Fresno State vs. Wyoming College Football Prediction And Insights

Fresno State has earned its place at No. 1 in this week’s HERO Sports G5 Top 25 College Football Power Rankings. The Bulldogs are undefeated at 5-0 with two wins over Power Five teams.

But Wyoming, which is ranked 10th this week and is 4-1 after a Power Five victory of its own, will present a substantial obstacle for the Bulldogs on their quest to repeat as Mountain West champions.

Fresno State is a -5.5 college football betting odds favorite against Wyoming, with the Over/Under being 44.5.

The moneyline for Fresno State is -225, and it’s +180 for Wyoming.

Fresno State’s offense and defense are among the best units in the Group of Five and the FBS as a whole.

The Bulldogs are tied for 22nd in the country with 17 points per game allowed and are tied for 26th with 36.4 points per game scored.

Mikey Keene has been Fresno State’s catalyst on offense. He’s thrown for 1,474 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions on a 69% completion rate.

Erik Brooks has been Keene’s primary target. Brooks leads the team with 485 yards and four touchdowns on 34 receptions. Elijah Gilliam is the team’s leading rusher with 312 yards and four touchdowns on 74 carries.

Levelle Bailey, Carlton Johnson, and Morice Norris Jr. have been key playmakers for the Bulldogs on defense. Bailey has a team-best 32 tackles, Norris paces Fresno State with 2.5 sacks to go along with 23 tackles, and Johnson leads the Bulldogs with four interceptions.

The Bulldogs have outscored their last three opponents 109-19. They are going to be a problem for Wyoming.

Wyoming opened the season with a thrilling double-overtime victory over Texas Tech at home. Since then, the Cowboys have won three of their last four games with their only loss being at No. 4-ranked Texas.

Andrew Peasley has been Wyoming’s leader on offense. He’s thrown for 575 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 56% of his passes. He’s also rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns.

Harrison Waylee paces the team on the ground with 457 yards and three touchdowns. Ayir Asante has a team-high 187 yards and three touchdowns on seven receptions.

On defense, Easton Gibbs leads the team with 43 tackles. Wyett Ekeler and DeVonne Harris each have a team-high two sacks, while Ekeler has added 35 tackles and Harris has recorded 16 tackles. Wrook Brown paces the Cowboys with three interceptions.

But Wyoming has been vulnerable on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys have allowed 25.5 points per game on defense, which is tied for the 68th lowest in the country, and have scored 26.2 points per game, which is the 84th best.

I’m picking Fresno State to win and cover the spread at -5.5. I also think the game will go Over 44.5 total points.

Fresno State may be on the road, and Wyoming may be talented, but the Bulldogs are playing incredibly well. I think their offense is especially going to shine in this matchup.

I expect Fresno State to find a rhythm early and could score 40 points by itself here, so I think the Bulldogs can win by a touchdown.

The Fresno State vs. Wyoming game will be televised on FOX at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. The contest will be played at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming.
