Gearan on Golf: Westminster teen makes history at Oak Hill Country Club

Mackenzie Whitney, 17, made a hole-in-one on the par-4, ninth hole at Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg. Last year at age 16, she became the youngest club champ in Oakhill's history. She will be captain of the Oakmont Spartans girls soccer team this fall. Her older brother Ethan will enter Temple University and play for the Owls. . The odds of an albatross on a par 4 are 6 million to 1. It is extremely rare. Bill Fields estimated the odds are 1 in 6,000. A hole in one on this hole is called a double-eagle or an Albatoss.

Mike Beaulieu and Alek Dernalowicz will play in the scratch division of the Commissioners’ Cup on August 14. John McMahon will face Dave Noyes in an 18-hole handicap flight final on the same day.

John Brewer, 52, made his first hole-in-one in 32 years of playing golf. He hit a 3-wood from 215 yards on the par-3 third hole with his wife Kaelah.
