Georgia football vs. Ohio State in Peach Bowl: What to know

Georgia and Ohio State are playing in the Peach Bowl. Georgia won the regular season 13-0. Ohio lost the conference championship game to Michigan. The Buckeyes were in because of Utah's upset of Southern Cal. They were selected on Selection Sunday. Georgia coach Kirby Smart is excited about the game. He believes his team is hungry. Stetson Bennett is the Heisman Trophy finalist. It's the first time in 30 years that a player from Georgia has been named a finalists. There are no expectations for the team. it's not living on last year's national title or the SEC championship. This year it is about winning the bowl game and playing better.

Georgia allows the fewest points of any playoff team, 12.8 points per game. Ohio State scores the most points, 44.5, with an explosive passing game led by Marvin Harrison Jr. Georgia's defense is ranked No. 2 in the nation. LSU's passing yards were second most allowed by Georgia in program history. The Bulldogs won the SEC championship game 50-30. Georgia defensive coordinator Smart wants his team to improve its defense. He wants to fix it. Harrison is fourth nationally with 12 touchdowns and ninth in receiving yards per games at 96.4.

Georgia is averaging 284.9 passing yards per game. A.D. Mitchell hasn't played much due to a high ankle sprain. He played 15 snaps against LSU. Georgia's offense is good for 19th place nationally. Georgia has a lot of talent, including Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington, Ladd McConkey, Kenny McIntosh and Kednall Milton. Ohio State coach Ryan Day says it's a process for Mitchell. It's been a frustration for him as much as anything. The team's coach Todd Monken says. They have a tight end, a receiver and a running back.

Jalen Carter is one of the best tackles in the country. He is a projected top 5 NFL draft pick. Georgia is playing in Peach Bowl. Ohio State is ranked third in tackle for loss allowed per game.  Georgia coach Smart praises Carter. The team will try to stop him. It will be a big challenge for the Buckeyes' offensive line. They are ranked 3rd in tackles for a loss per games. Their defense is very good. There are fewest tackle-for-loss allowed at 3.7 pergame.

Georgia and Ohio State are playing in the College Football Playoff. Georgia won 15 straight games against teams outside the SEC. Ohio is playing its fifth CFP, Georgia its third. The Buckeyes won the national title in 2014 and lost in 2016 and 2019 semifinals.   Georgia is motivated. It is the first time the team has been an underdog. They are excited to play again. "The vibe is a little different. Everybody is moving with a different sense of purpose," said Wypler. He also talked about the 2002 Buckeye team being an underdogs and winning the championship. This time they are motivated to go out there and play.
