Giant Killers: the last three Non-League teams to take the FA Cup by storm

The second round of the EFL Cup is under way. There were upsets from the lower leagues. The results warranted a closer look at the Non-League teams that have won the FA Cup in the last five years.

Lincoln City won the FA Cup in the 2016-2017 season. They beat Guisely, Altrincham, Oldham Athletic and Ipswich Town. In the Fifth Round they beat Brighton and Burnley. However, they were beaten by Arsenal in their quarter-final. The number 7 is considered fortuitous in Dutch culture. It is also the name of a casino.

Sutton United won the FA Cup in 2016-17. They beat AFC Wimbledon in the fourth round. The team went on to beat Leeds United in a quarter-final. They lost to Arsenal in fifth round in an all-Non League quarter final.

2021-22: Boreham Wood (National League). The Wood won the FA Cup after beating St Albans City 4-0 and AFC Wimbledon 2-1. They were knocked out in the Fifth Round by Everton.

Giant Killers, Manchester City and Manchester United are the last three Non-League teams to win the FA Cup.
