Golden day for Green

Tisbury harness racing trainer Kirstin Green had a golden run at Ascot Park today, winning four races.

“It looked good today, but it’s been a long time coming. These horses have been in over winter, had a long preparation and getting a bit of luck go your way is always good,” she said.

Frosty Girl (Royal Aspirations) got Green on the board leading and winning her maiden race in the first.

She part owns the three year old with breeder Bill Keeler.

“When I saw her in Bill’s paddock, I just saw the pretty white face. When you look up the breeding she’s from a very good family. Ron Barron had all those ‘Makarewa’ horses that did a pretty good job.”

In today’s race Green took Frosty Girl straight to the front and stayed there to beat Jaccka Baylis (Creatine) by a length and a half.

“She’s got good manners but is still learning to sprint up. She’s got high speed and once she gets more educated I think sit and sprint will be her go. The best part of today was after the winning line when Nathan’s horse (Jaccka Baylis) was up beside her. She did another lap and felt terrific.”

Betting Sensation (Betting Line) also led her race for Green in the hands of Blair Orange in the Woodlands Motors Three Year Old Fillies Mobile.

She held out stablemate Carrera Sunset, (Downbytheseaside) winning by a neck.

“She’s come back from a spell really well. When you look at her form line last time you would think it was just okay, but she had some terrible bad luck. She got a flat tyre against some good horses at Wyndham and locked wheels in an Oaks heat when she was travelling.”

Green has always had a high opinion of runner up Carrera Sunset.

“She didn’t come back as good as I would have liked. I think she’ll be a really nice four year old.”

Darin (Terror To Love) made it three for Green in the Regent Car Court Mobile for owner Tom Kilkelly who established the Regent brand.

“He’s a pesky wee fella and very lazy. You’ve got to be very careful when you’re driving him that you don’t break any rules by giving him too many taps. It’s great for Tom. Darin picked up the bit a couple of times in the running and that’s all that matters.”

Later in the programme Sally Lindenny (Majestic Son) won for Green wearing the colours of her owner Murray Swain.

Since joining the Green stable the seven year old mare has recorded three thirds, a second and now a win.
