Golden Knights Crush Jets’ Momentum In Game 3

The Vegas Golden Knights blew a 4-1, third-period lead in Game 3 as the Winnipeg Jets scored three unanswered goals to push the contest into overtime.

Right when the Jets started to get some momentum at home, Vegas gets a nice deflection to score the game-winner in double overtime.

The narrative in the NHL news headlines has changed as Vegas holds a 2-1 series lead and Winnipeg needs a win in Game 4 to even this series up. Vegas has the momentum but are they the right bet?

Vegas Has Flipped Momentum

The Golden Knights lost Game 1 of this first-round series and those who bet online were left to wonder if this team was ripe for an upset. However, they’ve now won two straight following a beautiful overtime winner.

Vegas held a 4-1 lead entering the third period before getting jumped by Winnipeg. The Jets scored three unanswered to force overtime and the narrative changed. It felt like Vegas might again be on the ropes.

They had gone 2 1/2 periods without a goal. Then they scored, stole back home-ice advantage and now the question is whether they’ve wrested control of this series away from Winnipeg.

The Golden Knights played well for a second straight game and also cashed on the NHL odds. The first two periods in Game 3 were phenomenal. It was the third period that was concerning.

However, just like Jack Eichel said, “Coming in after the third before the first overtime, we had a lot of confidence in the room.” That confidence helped them sustain that push and come out on top.

Jets Suffer Critical Blow

Winnipeg had a truly unfortunate bounce in double overtime, but they know that it wasn’t anything that could have been stopped. Head coach Rick Bowness said, “You get in those situations and the puck takes a bounce off a skate or a stick and it goes to them.”

To make matters worse, Winnipeg took another blow besides the heartbreaking loss. Their All-Star defenseman Josh Morrisey was injured early in the first period and didn’t return.

Bowness has already indicated that Morrisey will be shut down for the remainder of the series due to his lower-body injury. Defenseman Zach Whitecloud was also visibly hurting and grimacing from something related to his knee as well but he finished the game.

In terms of NHL betting, the Jets have gone from a 1-0 series lead and all of the momentum, to now losing two straight, having their backs against the wall and losing key members off the roster. Game 4 is now a must-win for them.

Golden Knights vs Jets Picks & Prediction

Winnipeg has kept each of these games competitive despite being the underdogs in the sportsbook on the series price. However, the injury to Morrisey is not going to make things better – especially if Whitecloud isn’t able to play at 100 percent either.

The Jets do get home-ice advantage, but those two defensemen being hobbled could open the doors for Vegas to keep their momentum rolling forward. Take the Golden Knights with your NHL picks.
