Grand National 2023: Rachael Blackmore's horse confirmed and big race odds

Recent years have seen Rachael Blackmore emerge as one of the biggest stars in horse racing, with her wins at Cheltenham confirming her status as one of the sport's top jockeys.

However, it is her Grand National win at Aintree which truly announced her arrival as one of the most talented jockeys aroud and made her a household name. After a stunning Cheltenham Festival in 2021, in which she rode six winners and was leading jockey, she arrived at Aintree in brilliant form.

Having become the first female jockey to win the Champion Hurdle with Honeysuckle at Cheltenham, she repeated the feat in the Grand National a month later. She rode Minella Times, an 11/1 shot to win at Aintree, before telling ITV: "I don't feel male or female right now. I don't even feel human.... It's unbelievable".

She could not repeat the feat in 2022, with the same ride, Minella Times falling the ninth fence. Trainer Henry De Bromhead had been preparing the now 10-year-old for a ride at Aintree this year but it was not to be and an injury in training led to retirement for the Irish-thoroughbred.

Amid their continued success as a partnership, De Bromhead has another horse emerging for the Grand National, with Ain't That A Shame the big hope for Blackmore this year. On Friday, the 9-year-old has emerged as an 8/1 favourite for the race, with betting trends leaning towards Blackmore after her huge success in big races in recent years.
