Guinness Six Nations Fantasy Rugby Round 4 team selection: Fantasy Rugby Geek

If you are low down the rankings then this is the perfect time to take a chance on a lesser owned player to try to propel you up the rankings!

In Round 3, it was a lesser-owned “differential” pick in Mack Hansen who made the biggest splash, while another Irish back three player is fast becoming a “must have”.

While many selected their Back 3 off the form from Rounds 1 and 2 and picked James Lowe and/or Hugo Keenan, those who gambled on Hansen were handsomely rewarded.

He ended with a 98 point haul that included two tries, 75m carried and a Player of the Match award to boot! Lowe also rewarded his owners with a huge 91.2 points even without getting on the scoresheet thanks to 131m carried, two try assists, four line-breaks and two dominant tackles.

At this stage Lowe is pretty much an essential.

Elsewhere, two more consistent fantasy performers from this season repaid their owners once again with some huge scores.

Finn Russell also continued his outstanding form with a 75.4 haul against France, which included a try and assist, 117m carried and 3 conversions.

Now the most expensive player in the game, Russell is clearly worth investing your stars in.

Last up, Thomas Ramos continues to bring high returns.

His breakaway try against Scotland was a highlight, but his unerring accuracy with the boot as a Back 3 player is another factor that puts him ahead of many other options in the wing and full-back area.

In Round 3, there was an embarrassment of riches in the Centres, and it is proving to be a highly competitive fantasy position with many options to choose from.

Huw Jones, Gael Fickou and Ollie Lawrence all put in dominant attacking and try-scoring performances that brought home big fantasy scores.

The out-of-position Ethan Dumortier once again delivered too. A centre in his underage days, he remains a brilliant option for those looking to bring in more Back 3 talent.

Looking ahead to Round 4, all three matches are really tough to call.

Italy welcome Wales to Rome and will be looking to record back-to-back wins against the men in red after last year’s success in Cardiff.

From an Italian fantasy perspective, Danilo Fischetti has been top of the props so far, averaging 34.4 points a game.

He has recorded 32 tackles in the 3 matches so far, 25% of which have been dominant.

An easy selection at prop.

While there is no Ange Capuozzo this week, there are other strong Italian fantasy selections for Round 4 include the out-of-position Lorenzo Cannone, Federico Ruzza, Pierre Bruno and Sebastian Negri.

Tommaso Allan could also be a great differential pick starting at second playmaker at Full-Back but classed as a Fly-Half.

Not ruling out Wales: Jac Morgan, Rio Dyer and Josh Adams all look like great fantasy options if they hit form while Lewis Rees-Zammit is an intriguing selection the bench given his capacity to make big metres and score tries.

It could be that kind of game!

At Twickenham, England host France.

France are marginal favourites but there are reasons to be hopeful for England.

With Marcus Smith back in the starting 10 berth for England and likely to have kicking duty, he should be a strong fantasy pick.

Captain Ellis Genge, Ollie Chessum, Jack Willis, Lewis Ludlam, Ollie Lawrence and Anthony Watson should also make great fantasy contributions.

With France, Ramo, Antoine Dupont, Dumortier and Gael Fickou should rack up the points.

If you are looking to make up ground, both Gregory Alldritt and Damian Penaud have been scoring below their usual high fantasy points-scoring standards, and this may be the week that they hit those highs.

Finally, the two most impressive sides of the tournament so far, Scotland and Ireland, square off at Murrayfield.

The opportunities for fantasy points scoring here are considerable. Dan Sheehan, Andrew Porter, Josh Van Der Flier, Caelan Doris, Lowe and Hugo Keenan look like they can score big for Ireland.

For Scotland, it’s hard to look past the form players in Pierre Schoeman, Matt Fagerson, Russell, Huw Jones and Duhan Van Der Merwe.
