Home Run Prop Prediction 1: MJ Melendez (+450)
There were higher expectations for Royals outfielder MJ Melendez at the start of the season but he only has a .223 batting average 12 home runs and 41 RBIs to show for it with just under two months left.
He’s starting to come into his own for the Royals though belting four of his home runs in the lsat five days while batting .286 in August so far with a .686 slugging percentage.
Melendez and the Royals welcome cross-town rival Cardinals to Kauffman Stadium with veteran Adam Wainwright taking the mound once again.
He allows lefties to bat .400 with seven of the 12 total home runs he’s given up in 40 less at-bats than righties faced on the season.
Wainwright has also allowed seven on the road in just 30.2 innings pitched while allowing all batters to hit .320 when playing away from Busch Stadium.
Melendez hits a home run once every 29 at-bats against right-handed pitchers on the season compared to just one every 51 at bats against lefties.
Take Melendez to hit a home run tonight at +450 with other Royals to consider for a home run are Salvador Perez (+400) and Bobby Witt Jr. (+390).
Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Juan Soto (+360)
Diamondbacks starter Ryne Nelson has given up at least one home run in seven straight starts as they welcome the Padres to Chase Field for a three-game series.
Juan Soto has two home runs against the Diamondbacks starter with the rookie sporting an 8.01 home ERA allowing 10 of his 20 home runs at Chase Field in 25 less innings pitched than on the road this season.
He allows lefties to bat .289 with a .511 slugging percentage with Soto batting .298 on the road and 16 of his 24 total home runs away from Petco Park as well.
Soto started off the month hot with four home runs but in his past four games is only 1-16. Tonight’s game is a great chance for Soto to snap out of his slump with Nelson allowing 13 earned runs over his last three starts (15.2 IP) allowing four home runs during that span as well.
Take Soto to hit a home run tonight at +360 with other Padres to look at for a home run include Gary Sanchez (+420) and Manny Machado (+360).
