Placed at her first two this preparation and was closing fast at Newcastle at her third.

Couldn’t have been more impressive winning her trial here on June 22. Well-bred type too.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 1,7,14

Race 6: 1,7

Race 7:1,13

Race 8: 6,8,11

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Mikayla Weir could give Aaron Bullock a run for the money in Monday’s TAB Jockeys Challenge at Muswellbrook.

COROWA

BEST BET

Race 7 No. 11: Sheila

Lightly-raced mare by Adelaide who has the form, and the draw, to win.

NEXT BEST

Race 6 no. 7: Nic’s Hero

Been thereabouts all four runs this time on and certainly in better company that what he races here.

INSIDE MAIL – Muswellbrook

RACE 5

Storm’s End has come back really well this preparation. She had her first two starts for Mark Newnham and switched to Scott Singleton for her next and last three which, for the record, are two seconds and a rapidly closing fifth at Scone on June 13. A Shooting Duck looked the part in her May 31 trial at Tamworth. In good hands with Cody Morgan and Aaron Bullock. Cycle Peak, ex Waterhouse/Bott now Mark Minervini, was excellent in his Gosford trial win. Social Outcast has been trialling well ahead of his return.

Bet: Storm’s End to win

RACE 6

No Filter is trained here at Muswellbrook. Only one of her 13 starts has been at this venue and that was when she ran second to the speedy Miss Violet over this same 1000m distance. No Filter’s best run for a while was at her most recent appearance when she finished off well to clock in fourth at Coffs Harbour. Bullock on! Nosey has won seven races with eight placings and even though he has had 57 starts, that’s still a lot of podium finishes. Huge run from the last at the 400m to finish a close second at Armidale last time out. Noble Pluck has claims.

Bet: No Filter to win, Daily Double 1st leg (7), 2nd leg (8)

RACE 7

Jubilant is trained by Paul Perry and is a close relation to his Golden Slipper winner, Stratum. As for the filly herself, one of her two career wins was here at Muswellbrook in August last year. She has been very good in her three runs this preparation; even her last start 7th of 10 was full of merit. Big Happiness is the track specialist of the day! The Kristen Buchanan trained gelding has raced here four times for three wins. The other time was still a good run in the hotly-contested Lone Pine. Bullock on/barrier 1. Turn Up The Night has claims.

Bet: Jubilant to win, exacta 13 to beat 1

RACE 8

Hard To Dismiss has finished with a medal at 15 of her 26 starts. Granted, only two of those are wins but she hasn’t always had things go adequately to suit her pattern which is more or less, get back and run on. One thing about her is that she will run the same race no matter who she is up against. Long story short, she is crying out for now. Dolly Jayne ran quite honourably in a Benchmark 72 at Randwick start; 1400m ideal. Classic Deel is a market watch. So too Alinghi’s grandson Seahaven.

Bet: Hard To Dismiss to win, Dolly Jayne to place, exacta 8 to beat 11, quinella 8,11

INSIDE MAIL – Corowa

RACE 4

Chicane is a former Queensland housed gelding who has been with trainer/jockey Michael Travers for the last six starts of her 9 start career. The daughter of Star Turn has placed three times for Travers and went closer than she ever has to winning at Narrandera as recently as June 25. Bobotov led and faded in the Chicane race last start but to be fair to him, he was first-up and he pretty much got attacked the whole way. He is only lightly-raced and has done some good things in a short space of time. Turnips was well backed to win on debut at Ballarat and went okay.

Bet: Chicane to win, quinella 1,2

RACE 5

Saiko is a Nick Olive trained son of Mazu sire Maurice racing in the Mazu colours. Saiko has two wins and seven placings from 24 starts; one of those placings that really stands-out on his C.V is his third to Participator at Wagga. Tuned-up for Monday’s return with a narrow but stylish trial win. Seventh Seal, aka First Seal’s brother, is unbeaten in both visits to Corowa and better still, they were both run over this distance. One Way Street sent out some encouraging signs at Narrandera at his first run for Wodonga trainer, Louise Dove. Defense Force is a second-up winner.

Bet: Saiko to win, quinella 1,10

RACE 6

Nic’s Hero made up a stack of ground on the Heavy 10 at Wagga last start. That was 1200m, this is 1400m and Monday’s race does look decidedly ‘easier’ on paper for the Gary Colvin owned/bred and trained gelding. Francesco Ben has a good strike-rate; winning two and four times placed from his nine starts. He hasn’t been sighted since October 1 last year but he is in very good hands with trainer Craig Weeding. Got a good draw and a good jockey too. Blessed Award has raced here three times for a win and a third. Vanderland and Vanburg are in the mix.

Bet: Nic’s Hero to win

RACE 7

Sheila is a daughter of the Cox Plate winner, Adelaide. The Andrew Dale trained mare has been very good in all six starts. For the record, that’s a win, two seconds, two fourths and fifth. Most of her runs – and in fact, her best runs – have been on Soft tracks and that has to be a positive given it was a Soft 7 at time of writing. Huge watch required on Black Tahitian who has the superior form (at times) and makes her regional debut for the prolific Mitchell Beer. Alembee is racing in good spirits. Lidia could improve at odds.
