RACE 4

Rematch is trained by Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich and will be ridden by Aaron Bullock. Can you believe that the winning trainer/jockey strike-rate here is 42 per cent! Add in the placings and it rises 77 per cent. Rematch accounts for 2 of their 68 shared wins and will be short-odds (and rightfully so) to add another to their tally on Monday. Indy Rose Warrior was 10th of 14 last start but she drew wide and went back a fair way. Expect a whole lot better outcome this time. Rebel’s Edge is usually thereabouts.

Bet: Rematch to win, exacta 3 to beat 5

RACE 5

Klipspringer was sold for $250,000 at the 2022 Sales in Melbourne. He is trained by Kris Lees who has had a lot of success with the Shamus Award offspring and those of this gelding’s dam-sire, Savabeel. The trials are a bit hard to read but he does at least ‘look’ like a horse with something to offer. Oakfield Eagle has the distinct advantage of race experience and race fitness given he is third-up off the back of a couple of ‘fifths’. Bullock on. Worth Avenue needs to show something soon - but can.

Bet: Klipspringer to win

RACE 6

Mr Wallace is a son of the four times Group 1 winner, Streama. Originally part of the Godolphin string, Mr Wallace was bought by Cody Morgan on-line in February for $19,000. Mr Wallace won $15,000 for Morgan and the new connections at his very start under the new management back in April. Resume here and has trialled up a treat. Sightseer has a good overall record/strike-rate but it is worth special attention that he has finished second at his only two runs at this track and distance, one of those by a nose. Sunny Side Up is a value.

Bet: Mr Wallace to win, quinella 2,3, box trifecta 2,3,5,12

RACE 7

Our Cousin Al finds himself in the absolutely perfect race at the perfect time. The Wyong housed galloper should be at the peak of his powers now fourth-up. This (1280m) is right inside his ‘range’ and he has the equal highest benchmark rating of the entire field. Just needs a good ride from the draw but he has a very, very good jockey on. Krissie Simpkins has got Distinctive Glory flying at the moment. He’ll be rattling home big time again on Monday. Appetite For Risk has to put his hand up in this grade and easily could.

Bet: Our Cousin Al each-way, Distinctive Glory each-way, quinella / duet 3,12

WAGGA

RACE 5

Too Sharp has raced eight times for a win, two seconds, a third, two fourths, and a fifth. That pretty much says it all about the horse’s sheer consistency. The fact that this is 1300m ensures that he won’t run out of time or ground to get past them first-up. Good draw and gets in well now with the claim. His main threats look to be the Victorian duo of Superabundant (barrier 4 and Beasley!) and the former Chris Waller trained And We Danced who has a seriously compelling fresh record and multiple Sydney city placings.

Bet: Too Sharp to win

RACE 6

Duchy Of Cornwall is trained at Wagga by Tim Donnelly for Richard Pegum and romped in at his debut at Wagga back on February 17. He hasn’t figured in three starts since but he should have finished a lot higher up the order in the Wagga Guineas on May 5. Dream Inherit has only managed two wins from 16 starts but firm track/1400m are two things that work for him. Mr Metrics was hitting the line with purpose there first-up at Cootamundra.

Bet: Duchy of Cornwall to win, trifecta 5 (standout), 2,3,7 (boxed)

RACE 7

Carnival Miss is a daughter of the former Riverina based stalwart stallion Zariz with whose progeny Gary Colvin would have won countless races with. Carnival Miss’ own count is six at present, two of which came first-up bearing in mind she resumes here on Monday. She saves her best for Wagga and her ‘best’ is good enough to be winning this. The same goes for Greek Tycoon who has mixed and matched it with better horses than these. Added to that, he has finished runner-up in his only two starts at the Wagga 1200m.

Bet: Carnival Miss to win, quinella 1,6

RACE 8

Nutbush Ambush was excellent in his first preparation. He was second on two strong Albury maidens before winning here, Entitled to be forgiven for the fourth start failure here on Cup day. End of prep maybe? Whatever the case, this is the start of the prep and it could be another good one for the Mitchell Beer trained bay. Fileeta was the $1.35 favourite at Corowa and as they say in the classic, it was an easy watch. Clearly talented and clearly progressive. Local Danceenuff and Jay Peak Kitten have claims.

Bet: Nutbush Ambush to win, exacta 7 to beat 12
