Marshman is getting the weight-for-age allowance as a three-year-old sprinter and has to be high on the list. He also has a good draw in stall three. Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle and while there are supposed to be some scattered showers around but he doesn’t mind any dig in the ground and that can only help his cause.

Chillhi has definitely got better as the Brian Ellison team have stepped him up in distance and put in an eye-catching performance last time at Chester as he flashed home to take third. The handicapper has left him on the same mark of 86 and the added quarter of a mile can bring about another chunk of improvement.

Sceptic slots in here at the bottom of the handicap after a very smooth success at Goodwood. He has a very good profile and is a lightly raced three-year-old, who is clearly on an upward curve. Lots of these have beaten each other on numerous occasions and he is the new kid on the block as the only youngster in the line-up.

One For Bobby put up a smart performance on her first try for Hughie Morrison at Nottingham where the front two runners pulled a long way clear. Her effort at Newcastle last time is incredibly strong form and added to that, her jockey Jason Hart made far too much use of her around the home turn. We can upgrade that performance significantly.

After winning at Yarmouth on her racecourse debut, Bridestones was put away until the start of her three-year-old career. She was then upped in grade, suggesting she had shown plenty at  promise at home. She did incredibly well to get going again after being knocked over twice in the Sandringham at the Royal meeting and clearly would’ve won the race if it was on her side of the draw. She can gain compensation now.

As we know at Haydock, it’s very hard to come from the back of the pack, so we can upgrade Onesmoothoperator’s run at this venue last time. He was he was the only one in the field to close in on the leaders running against the bias of the track. We will need a bit of luck with the pace in the early stages but with a maximum field there should be a fight on for the lead to set it up nicely for his late thrust.

The Irish 2,000 Guineas and James’s Palace Stakes winner Paddington is clearly on a rapid rise to the top and looked as good as ever at the Royal meeting. He steps up in distance to 10f now which looks well within his compass. The small- runner field will mean the race could prove very tactical but he could easily pop out in front and make his own running if Ryan Moore is not happy with the pace. He looks the one to beat.
