Day two and we have to be a little careful with the weather forecast as it seems like there is some rain around. It’s a case of how much will fall on the track to make a difference to the forecast going.

Karl Burke is no stranger to the winners enclosure at Ascot and he is brilliant at buying horses. BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND cost 360,000 guineas at the Breeze Up sales. It looked like money well spent when she bolted up first time up and sets a really good standard in here after that Nottingham win.

Owen Burrows trains this daughter of Exceed and Excel, and TARRABB enjoys a healthy pull in the weights with her conqueror at the track in September, Crystal Caprice. With a decent comeback run at Chelmsford under her belt, she gets the nod now.

Connections forked out £1.25 million for JUMBLY at the sales and her run at the Curragh last time behind Just Beautiful, looks the perfect warm-up for this contest. Ryan Moore is booked to ride for trainer Joseph O’Brien and this is a golden opportunity for her to win a big prize.

You will struggle to get a better specimen of a thoroughbred than ADAYAR. He is a beast. He won nicely at Newmarket on his comeback run. A little bit of rain will do no harm as he hits the ground hard and I can see him getting the better of Luxembourg.

  • WELCOME TO PP NEWS: NEW TO US?

Daniel & Claire Kubler do really well with their string in Lambourn and they bought ASTRO KING from Sir Michael Stoute. He is only a six-year-old and has run some good races at Ascot in the past, notably when fourth in this contest last year. It was a really good run at York behind Croupier and he has to be a player now from stall 12, drawn more or less in the middle.

It’s probably about time, I tipped a Frankie Dettori ridden horse! He will bring the house down if he wins. GREGORY looks to be the ideal candidate to do that. He is bred to stay and he certainly looked good when winning at Goodwood. He gets a nod in what could be a tricky contest for the 1m 6f Queen’s vase.

I was really taken with the performance of Wesley Ward’s Fandom at Keeneland, over 5.5 furlongs. He’s also entered in the 6f Coventry Stakes so we’ll have to see whether he runs there or not first. Barnwell Boy gets the nod if the US challenger doesn’t run in this.
