ATS

Hot

Seattle Kraken 8-2

After a sluggish start and an injury outbreak, the Kraken may finally be returning to playoff form. Seattle is only a few weeks removed from an eight-game losing streak and a streak in which they managed only two points. Now, they are on a 10-game point streak and have surged their way to relevancy in the Pacific Division. Seattle has also covered in eight of their last 10 contests. Goalie Joey Daccord has hit his stride, while blueliner Vince Dunn has racked up eight points in his last five games.

Edmonton Oilers 7-3

You just couldn’t expect them to stay down forever. The Oilers are firing on all cylinders and are back in the thick of things. They are riding a six-game win streak and have covered in each of their last five contests. The Oilers are 17-6 in their last 23 games. And despite their road struggles, they are 5-0 in their last five games away from home. Connor McDavid is in the top five in points again, while Stuart Skinner has proven to be a saving grace for Edmonton. The netminder has really come on lately, allowing just 2.31 GA/G over his last 13 starts. The offense has flourished as well, as the Oilers have averaged 4.0 GF/G over the past 10 games. They are back.

Cold

Dallas Stars 1-9

Dallas has been ice cold lately, and it’s almost all thanks to the injury to Jake Oettinger, who has been out since early December. Scott Wedgewood filled in nicely, but ATS this team has been a nightmare. Wedgewood started the last 10 games since Oettinger has been out, and five have gone to OT and two more were regulation losses. However, one should pay attention to the Stars while at a weak point. Dallas may have struggled with the ATS, but they have managed to accumulate 14 points over the last 10 games. Once they get Oettinger back, this team will be back to dominating the opposition.

Vegas Golden Knights 2-8

With the rise of Seattle and Edmonton, it is only natural for things to balance out. The next victim? The Golden Knights. Similarly, to Dallas, the Knights lost their starting netminder to an injury, and Logan Thompson and Jiri Patera have struggled in his absence. Over the last 10 games, the two backups have allowed 4.1 GA/G, which just won’t cut it for a team averaging 3.18 GF/G on the year. Vegas has failed to cover in each of their last five outings and has lost seven of their last 10 games. Until Adin Hill gets healthy, it is best to keep expectations low on any Vegas covers.

Moneyline

Hot

Seattle Kraken 8-2

Yes, mentioned again, the Kraken are the hottest team in hockey. They have won eight of their last 10 games and are currently riding a 10-game point streak. They have stormed their way into the playoff picture as they currently hold the 2nd Wild Card spot and are only five points behind the Kings for a guaranteed spot.

Winnipeg Jets 8-2

Despite the loss of Kyle Connor, this Jets team has been dominating. Since the start of December, this team has gone 12-1-2, picking up 26 points since December 2. They are in the midst of a 10-game point streak and appear to be the most balanced team on ice right now. Over the last 10, the Jets offense has averaged 3.7 GF/G and has allowed only 1.9 GA/G. They have been completely dominating the opposition thanks to elite goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit, while LW Nikolaj Ehlers has come on in Connor’s absence. Winnipeg finds themselves just two points from being tabbed as the best team in, not only the Western Conference, but in the NHL.

Cold

San Jose Sharks 0-10

Well, they kind of came on, until they didn’t. San Jose is now riding their second double-digit losing streak of the campaign, and its only the beginning of January. The offense has disappeared, as the Sharks have averaged just 1.5 GF/G over the last 10 outings. Additionally, the goaltending has struggled as well, as they have allowed 4.3 GA/G. San Jose has only won seven games in regulation out of the 39 games to this point. There is not much going right for the Sharks other than this season is almost halfway over.

Chicago Blackhawks 2-8

Chicago is not doing much better than San Jose, as they have lost 10 of their last 14 games and have managed just eight regulation wins so far this year. Only difference between them and San Jose, is 18-year-old phenom named Connor Bedard. Bedard leads the club with 33 points, but it’s just not enough to get this club rolling. Chicago’s netminding has been a huge issue this season and over the last 10 games they have allowed 4.6 GA/G. Blackhawk fans just have to hold on through the rest of the campaign and hope that they win the Draft Lottery again.
