How Austin Cindric Produced a Dominant Victory Over Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland in NASCAR's Rookie-of-the-Year Battle

Austin Cindric, Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland are the current NASCAR Cup Series drivers in the 2022 season. They are all proven winners in either the NASCAR Xfinity Series or theNASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Austin Cindric won the Daytona 500 in his eighth career Cup Series start. Todd Gilliland and Harrison Burton finished 33 and 39. Cindic finished 12 in the standings. Burton and Gilliland finished 27 and 28. They had only one top-five finish each. The other two drivers finished in top five. It was Cindri's first full Cup season with Roger Penske's team. He was eliminated from title contention in Round of 12. His best finish was second at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on July 31. it was also the site of one of his best finishes.

Austin Cindric won the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award for his performance in 2022. Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland struggled in their debut Cup seasons. Burton's team is prepared out of Team Penske's shop. Gilliland's company competes for Front Row Motorsports. Burton is the son of 21-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner Jeff Burton. He's also the grandson of former Cup series driver David Gillis. The team he competises for is Joe Gibbs Racing.
