How Trackhouse flipped the script on NASCAR’s powerhouses

Justin Marks bought a NASCAR team from Chip Ganassi and has turned it into a regular winner. He brought Pitbull and Ty Norris to join him. He is the son of a tech company guru and an early investor in GoPro. His business calling is sports marketing. The team has won the Championship 4 this year. It also made the playoffs and won a championship decider. Kimi Raikkonen was a guest driver in one of the cars. Pit Bull is a co-owner. They have brought great partners to the team. Marks loves the sport. he believes in it more than he ever did.

"Having a four-car team has disadvantages and advantages. In those teams, there are four steps of cars and if you're not in one of the best ones in terms of people pushing in the same direction, it can be tough"

Marks started a team called Trackhouse. He didn't have a NASCAR charter. Next generation car will be introduced in 2022. Marks believes it will bring parity to the sport. Furniture Row Racing won the title in 2017, but it was shut down a year later.  Next generation is the legacy of Furnitures Row. It's fitting that Trackhouses has jumped into that underdog role. The sport's costs were out of control. NASCAR HQ was shocked. There were problems with the costs. FRR’s death was a public one. For Marks, Next Gen is a legacy. “If were all playing with same ball, then it truly becomes about the team.”

"I wouldn't want to be doing this with anybody else"

Kimi Raikkonen made his Cup Series debut at Watkins Glen. He qualified 27th and finished 14th. His teammate Suarez was impressed with his performance. Raikonen hasn't driven a racing car in 251 days. Justin Marks has said that the ride is Raika's until he tells him otherwise. He injured his wrist in a crash. Suarez hopes Raiki will come back. The Finn has not raced since the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It's possible he will do it again.
