How will the Orioles leverage their organizational infield talent in 2023?
Adam Frazier was an All-Star in 2021 but was poor for the Mariners last season. The Orioles signed him for $8 million. There is a lot of talent in the Orioles infield, especially on defense. Joey Ortiz, Jordan Westburg, and Connor Norby are on the 40-man roster. Ryan Mountcastle is the most entrenched player at first base. Tyler Nevin and Lewin Díaz are not serious contenders. Anthony Santander could be an option if the team doesn't trade him. He played for Triple-A Norfolk last year. His batting skills are good, but he didn't play much in games.
The Orioles have a lot of talent at one area of the field. Mateo, Urías, Ortiz, Westburg, Norby, and Holliday are all good prospects. They are available for a starting pitcher. The Orioles haven't been active in the free agent market. Their division rivals have improved their roster recently. It's a problem for the Orioles if they want to compete for October next year.
