Hurricanes Stanley Cup odds make them best bet to win it all
The Boston Bruins are the talk of the town, well in front in the race for the Presidents Trophy and the betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup.
But, I would argue that the Carolina Hurricanes are actually the team to beat and based on their odds to win the Stanley Cup, they’re the best bet to win it all.
Let’s take a look at the latest odds and then I’ll break down why I think it’s the Hurricanes who are the cream of the crop in the NHL.

The Bruins may have the better record, but it’s the Hurricanes who are the best team in the league when you look at the analytics and statistics.
Let’s take a look at where they rank in a number of key advanced analytics:
- CORSI% – 1st
- FENWICK% – 1st
- Expected goals for/60 minutes – 3rd
- Expected goals against/60 minutes – 1st
- High-danger scoring chances for – 1st
- High-danger scoring chances allowed – 7th
Those are some pretty good numbers, I’d say. They rank above the Bruins in five of the six above advanced analytics. Boston only comes in higher in high-danger scoring chances allowed.
Now, that doesn’t mean the Hurricanes are without a weakness. They have struggled to find the back of the net at times this season. In fact, they rank just 22nd in shooting percentage, scoring on 9.46% of their shots on goal.
Regardless, you have to love the advanced analytics. If they can keep up that level of play while dialing in their shooting a little bit, they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, especially in a best-of-7 series.
In my opinion, the Hurricanes are by far the best bet to make to win the Stanley Cup as we enter the final few weeks of the regular season.
