Iconic clifftop pub The Smugglers Inn smash 20 years against the odds

The Smugglers Inn in Dawlish is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To mark the milestone, the pub is selling anniversary merchandise. Nick Stentiford and his partner Donna Cassella turned the venue into a popular destination for tourists and locals. The pub was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was furloughed, but every member of staff came back to work. The business has been successful despite having to reduce the inside seating. They have removed 58 seats and 12 tables. Turnover is down, because of the loss of tables and chairs.

The venue The Smugglers Inn in Devon can't celebrate its 20th anniversary this month due to the pandemic. The party has been postponed to next year. Nick bought the pub in 2001 with his wife Donna and their three children. He bought 10% of the business with business partner Andrew Mogford and his family. The family bought majority of shares in 2013. In 2010 the bar was completely refurbished and the building has a traditional feel. It is set in between two seaside towns - Dawlish and Teignmouth. Its cottages date back to 16th or 17th century. There is a restaurant in the premises.
