Initial 2023 ZiPS Projections Have Dodgers Winning NL West With Second Best Record In MLB
The initial projections for the 2023 season predict the Los Angeles Dodgers will finish with a 91-71 record. They will be second in the National League West behind the Atlanta Braves. The San Diego Padres are forecasted to finish 87-75 with 24.7% chance to win the division. Colorado Rockies are projected to be last in their division at 68-94. San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks are predicted to end tied for third at 83-79. The Giants have slightly higher division odds at 13% compared to 11.2%.
The Braves are projected to finish with 96 wins in the NL East and have an 18.5% chance of winning the World Series. The St. Louis Cardinals are the favorite in NL Central with a 91-71 record and a 10% of winnings. Houston Astros are top team in American League West with 90-72 record. Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays are tied in AL East with 88-74 record, while AL Central is the weakest division with 82-80 record with Cleveland Guardians at the top spot.
