Ireland remain World Cup favourites after Scotland demolition

Ireland remain joint favourites to win the Rugby World Cup after last night's comprehensive 36-14 win over Scotland at the Stade de France in Paris.

The world number one side dominated from start to finish and put their Celtic cousins to the sword on a night where professionalism was needed to set up a mouth-watering clash with the New Zealand All Blacks next Saturday evening.

With wins over Scotland and South Africa to their name, Ireland have already shown their ability to perform on the biggest stage at this World Cup.

And bookmakers BettingSites.co.uk believe Andy Farrell's side have done enough to justify being joint favourites for the tournament alongside hosts France at 11/4.

Ireland's next opponents New Zealand aren't far behind in the pecking order and are priced at 7/2 to take home the title for a fourth time in history, while reigning champions South Africa are price just a little longer at 10/3.

All four sides are on the same side of the draw, and bookies clearly believe the winners will come from these four teams as the next best priced outfit are England who are at 12/1 despite being on the much easier side of the draw.
