Jade Hampson Makes Early SA Impact With Jamestown Treble

Darwin apprentice Jade Hampson is making an impact in South Australia. The 18-year-old had a full book of rides at the Jamestown Cup Day on Saturday and finished with a treble. She has only ridden at six racetracks in Australia so far. Hampon has won on debut at every other racracing venue. She lived in Darwin for five years before her family moved to Adelaide. Her first start was at Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club on September 18. It was her second appearance at a South Australian meeting. Before that she spent time with Richard and Chantelle Jolly in Adelaide and travelled interstate.

Jade Hampson has been riding in South Australia since arriving. She has learnt a lot in the short time she's been here. Hampon broke her ankle after falling from her mount at Fannie Bay on Anzac Day at her second meeting. The training on the dirt is different to riding on grass. She was sidelined for almost two months before she made her return. Her training is done in a gym every day and she goes through her replays. Every other jockey at Jamestown was a female apprentice. Alice Lindsay, Britney Wong and Jade Doyle have all spent time riding at the NT. David Tootell Snr aside, it was good riding against girls apart from David.
