Jamie Kah to ride untapped talent globe in Cox Plate Qualifier

The Valley, known for its tight turns and distinctive layout, presents a demanding course for any horse, and Globe's size adds an extra layer of complexity. With three challenging corners to navigate from the 1600m starting point, Saturday's race promises to be a test of skill and agility.

Globe is currently listed at $15 odds in TAB's all-in Cox Plate market, alongside Western Australian sensation Amelia's Jewel. The market favourites include Romantic Warrior ($4), Mr. Brightside ($8), Without A Fight ($8), Light Infantry ($9), and Alligator Blood ($11).

In addition to Globe's anticipated run in the Feehan Stakes, trainer Mick Price has secured Jamie Kah to ride the unbeaten sprinter, What You Need, in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality over 1200m at Flemington on September 16.

While What You Need was initially slated to gallop at The Valley on Tuesday and then compete in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m), Price has decided to avoid the formidable challenge posed by The Everest winner, Giga Kick.

"He's going down the straight in the 1200m where he's won three 1100m races," Price explained. "We just thought Moonee Valley is too sharp, especially with 1000m small field."

The presence of Giga Kick has limited the McEwen Stakes field to Imperatriz, Rothfire, and Acromantula.

With nominations for Saturday's meeting closing at 12pm on Monday, racing enthusiasts eagerly await the spectacle that Globe and What You Need are poised to deliver.

Mick Price's strategic approach to these races hints at a promising future for these talented horses, as they aim for top-tier victories and potentially lucrative stud careers. The racing world is set for thrilling action, and fans can't wait to witness the excitement unfold at The Valley and Flemington.
