Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Paris Dior the best bet of Saturday’s All-Star Mile meeting at The Valley

The Mercury

News Corp form analysts Brad Waters runs an early eye over the form for Saturday’s $5m All-Star Mile meeting at The Valley.

BEST BET

PARIS DIOR (Race 8, No.1)

Chased home the impressive Benedetta at Flemington first-up and will be much fitter for that. Expecting another big run from her.

VALUE BET

BLUESTONE LANE (Race 2, No.2)

Bluestone Ridge is flying for the Cliff Brown camp and got home over this course last time out. He loves 1200m and can win again.

RACE 1: 12:25PM POWERFLO SOLUTIONS VOBIS GOLD COMET (1000m)

The speedsters start All-Star Mile day and happy to go with MIDWEST (1) back at The Valley. His form in Sydney was solid and the four-year-old is unbeaten at the track. SCISSOR STEP (2) debuts for the McEvoy camp and won at The Valley first-up on Cox Plate Day last time in. MYNUMEROUNO (4) is first-up for 11 months but has the ability to show up fresh. TAN TAT MAGIC (7) was sound at Flemington last Saturday and can run well again.

SUGGESTED BET: Midwest to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Midwest $2.50 – $2.15.

RACE 2: 1:05PM SHARP EXTENSIVE IT HANDICAP (1200m)

Tricky contest but BLUESTONE LANE (2) is racing in terrific form, including a win at The Valley last time out, and is worth another each-way play despite rising to 62kg for this. MORPHEUS BRAGI (14) is lightly-raced but talented and has jumped out well leading up to this. BLOOD OATH (5) ran on well at Sandown last time and won’t be far away. IN HER STRIDE (9) was close-up in a Stakes race in Tassie last start and should go well back to 1200m.

SUGGESTED BET: Bluestone Lane each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: In Her Stride $9.50 – $6.50.

RACE 3: 1:40PM PIPER-HEIDSIECK THE MYSTIC JOURNEY (2040m)

DIVINE DIOSA (2) might represent a bit of value her. She has given starts and finished off well at both runs this time in but is likely to enjoy the 2040m here. SUMMERBEEL (5) is racing in terrific form and will be suited up on the speed again. CHARMS STAR (1) was solid in the Wangaratta Cup last start and should find this easier. AMPERE (6) is lightly-raced but showing talent for the Mick Kent camp.

SUGGESTED BET: Quinella 2 & 5.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Summerbeel $3 – $2.40.

RACE 4: 2:20PM XTREME FREIGHT VOBIS GOLD REEF (1600m)

An even bunch of three-year-olds will contest this race but TORONTO TERRIER (5) was most impressive with the way he disposed of his opposition first-up. He’s on trial at the trip but looks a horse on the ride. AMERICAN LIAISON (3) led and scored easily at Kilmore but could also be in this for a long way. RUSSIAN DANCER (2) is racing well on his home track and is one of the chances. BEL AIR (1) was solid again at Pakenham and is also worth thought.

SUGGESTED BET: Toronto Terrier to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Russian Dancer $6 – $3.90.

RACE 5: 2:55PM THE BRANCH LOGISTICS MUGATOO (1600m)

The former Hong Kong galloper RIYAZAN (1) did his best work along in the inside in Group 2 company second-up and will find this much easier. MUNHAMEK (5) posted a deserved win at Flemington last start and could go on with it here. BOIS D’ARGENT (2) wasn’t far from some smart types at his only Australian run and has trialled well. COMMODUS (10) is racing well in easier contests and could fill a placing.

SUGGESTED BET: Riyazan each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Munhamek $2.40 – $2.30

RACE 6: 3:40PM LISTED ENTRY EDUCATION ABELL STAKES (1200m)

LADY OF HONOUR (5) resumes after a strong spring campaign and has the class to threaten here first-up. DOULL (11) dropped in class for a soft first-up win but will be fitter & wasn’t far from Giga Kick last time in. IN THE BOAT (2) resumes and can prove tough to run down back on his favoured firm ground. LOMBARDO (1) will be fitter for his steady first-up run and will find this much easier than competing at Group 1 level.

SUGGESTED BET: Lady Of Honour to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Lombardo $14 – $9.50.

RACE 7: 4:20PM THE SHARP EIT ALL-STAR MILE (1600M)

The step up to 1600m should turn things in favour of I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (1), who has a great record at the trip and the expected fast pace should suit. ALLIGATOR BLOOD (2) is as tough as they come and will present a tough challenge again. MR BRIGHTSIDE (4) loves The Valley and is a Group 1 winner over 1600m while ALENQUER (8) is the big query runner at his Australian debut but his overseas form is more than good enough for this.

SUGGESTED BET: I’m Thunderstruck to win.

TAB MARKET: Alligator Blood $3 – $2.80.

RACE 8: 5:00PM GROUP 3 PKF TYPHOON TRACY STAKES (1200m)

A big field of fillies is engaged her but liked the way PARIS DIOR (1) finished off behind the classy Benedetta at Flemington first-up. She’ll only be fitter for that and is a Group 2 winner over 1200m. WEE NESSY (3) has drawn awkwardly but she ran on well at Sandown second-up and was a stakes winner at The Valley in the spring. LADY LAGUNA (7) drops in weight for her first-up run and is a consistent filly. GREECE (18) will be much fitter for her first-up run.

SUGGESTED BET: Paris Dior to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Paris Dior $8 – $6.

RACE 9: 5:40PM GROUP 2 DEC ALISTER CLARK STAKES (2040m)

This is a deep race with plenty of talented runners with winning chances. Going with AMENABLE (3) after his excellent effort in the Australian Guineas while the colt also impressed jockey Damien Oliver with his work at The Valley on Tuesday. JAPANESE EMPEROR (5) can show his Australian Guineas placing was no fluke with another good performance here. BANK MAUR (2) closed well late in the Guineas and is worth respect as is the staying talent DUNKEL (1)

SUGGESTED BET: Box trifecta 1, 2, 3, 5.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Amenable $3.30 – $3.10.

RACE 10: 6:10PM LADBROKES COUNTRY SERIES FINAL (1600m)

Tough finish to a big day at The Valley but KHOEKHOE (2) showed he has come back well with his dominant on-pace win at Ballarat from which he will be further improved. SUPARAZI (2) impressed with his last-start win and should be go well again. BRITISH COLUMBIA (3) chased home Khoekhoe at Ballarat and is most consistent. THREEANDFOURPENCE (11) has a tricky gate but watch for him late.

SUGGESTED BET: Back both Khoekhoe and Suparazi to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Khoekhoe $8.50 – $6.
