[JAPAN SPORTS NOTEBOOK] Equinox is the Japan Racing Association's 2022 Horse of the Year

Equinox won two Grade 1 races in 2022. He was named the Japan Racing Association's 2022 Horse of the Year on January 10. Equinox's trainer Tetsuya Kimura is grateful for the accolade. He also won the JRA's Best Three-year-old Colt award. The winner was announced on the same day as other award winners for previous racing season.

Equinox received 282 of 288 first-place votes for the Horse of the Year award. Dolce More was named the Best Two-year-old Colt, Liberty Island the best Two year old filly and Stars on Earth the three year olds. For a complete list of award winners, see the JRA's report.
