I won’t begrudge you if you want to wager some of your hard-earned money on the NBA’s Summer League. I do think that betting on what are inherently practice games with young players only professional scouts know about isn’t the best idea, but again — try and get lucky where you can, I suppose.
On that note, I feel for anyone who had money on Wednesday’s Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz Summer League battle.
The consensus pregame over and under was 185.5 total points. And for a moment, with an end-game score of 96-88, anyone who had the under might have been laughing all the way to the bank. That is until Denver’s Manny Camper launched a meaningless three-point heave with less than two seconds on the clock.
Camper made the desperate shot to get the final deficit to 96-91 and turned this game into an awful bad beat for anyone who had the under:
Oof. Camper’s just trying to impress his coaches and make an NBA roster. He’s not thinking about anyone’s bets. He’s playing to the final whistle. Nonetheless, what a terrible stroke of luck for anyone betting on this affair between two mountain NBA teams.
