Jazz vs Hawks Picks, Predictions & Odds Tonight

With Keyonta George excelling in a bigger role for Utah, we expect the rookie guard to remain a savvy distributor when he hits the court in Atlanta this evening. Find out more in our Jazz vs. Hawks betting picks.

The Atlanta Hawks are clinging to the last play-in spot in the Eastern Conference and Trae Young’s absence with a finger injury adds intrigue against the visiting Utah Jazz tonight.

For those wondering whether it’s time for the Hawks to move on from Young, the next few weeks are worth monitoring. Dejounte Murray has the keys to the offense for Atlanta, and the hosts bounced back from three straight losses with Sunday’s 109-92 win over the Orlando Magic.

The Jazz brushed aside the San Antonio Spurs at the weekend to end an ugly five-game skid, with Lauri Markkanen scoring 26 points, and they’re only slight underdogs at State Farm Arena, where they’ve won on their last four visits.

Take a closer look at tonight’s NBA odds and key trends in my free NBA picks for Jazz vs. Hawks on February 27.

Jazz vs Hawks predictions

As the Utah Jazz continue to look to the future, Keyonte George is going to get all the reps he can handle over the final weeks of his rookie season. Based on his February form, he looks ready for that volume against the Atlanta Hawks tonight.

While George’s 33-point night against Golden State was his highlight performance of the month, I’m more excited by his steady playmaking — and that’s where I’m going for my best bet.

There have been growing pains for George this season, but he’s back in a starting role and he’s delivered six or more assists in three of his last four games.

Surrounded by scorers like Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, and Lauri Markkanen, George’s vision is becoming a real spark for Utah, and at 6-foot-4, he’s got great size for the lead guard position.

The visitors have gone past the 120-point mark in three of their past four outings, and I’m wagering on George to dish out dimes again on the road.

My best bet: Keyonte George Over 5.5 assists (+114 at FanDuel)

Jazz vs Hawks same-game parlay

Keyonte George Over 5.5 assistsDejounte Murray Over 24.5 points

Hawks moneyline

If Sunday’s dominant performance was any indication, the Hawks are in good hands with Dejounte Murray running the show. Free from the “your turn, my turn” offense next to Trae Young, he was one rebound shy of a triple-double against the Magic.

I see Murray stuffing the stat sheet again tonight, but his points prop is the most appealing. The George/Sexton backcourt is no one’s idea of a lockdown pairing, and Murray should be walking into at least 20 field goal attempts here.

I’m also taking the Atlanta moneyline. Yes, the hosts are less dynamic without Trae and Onyeka Okongwu, but I trust Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Jalen Johnson to put up points. Meanwhile, the defense should be stouter without Young on the perimeter.

The Jazz’s 9-20 road record is a cause for concern, and dealing away three rotation players at the deadline has left the visitors short on depth.

Jazz vs Hawks spread and Over/Under analysis

Neither team arrives in stellar form, but the injury-hit Hawks are currently 2.5-favorites. Even with those absences, that line seems to undersell the hosts at face value, but it’s hard to question the sportsbook’s stance when Atlanta is 18-39 against the spread this season.

Though the Jazz have won six of the past seven meetings between these teams, they’re still figuring out the revamped rotation after the trade deadline, and their only win since February 6 came against the lowly Spurs.

I prefer to lay the points with the hosts, who should have a quickness edge on the wing tonight and can create mismatches against Markkanen and John Collins.

Atlanta has hit the team total Over in 42 of its last 69 contests, but the defense has often shown up down the stretch. The hosts have served up a fourth-quarter Under in 16 of their last 23 outings.

Things look a little different with this version of the Hawks, though, and the Under looks like the safer play tonight, with a hefty line of 238.5. The Under has been a winner in Atlanta’s last three games and Utah’s past two contests, as well as in six of the teams’ last seven matchups.
