Jeremy Brummitt keeping his feet on the ground as Book 1 buy makes history

Jeremy Brummitt bought Russian Camelot from Camas Park Stud for 120,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2018. The colt won the South Australian Derby at Morphettville on Saturday. Brummitt bought two yearlings from the same yearling sale for his clients who wanted to bring them to Australia unraced. Russian Camot is the first northern hemisphere-bred three-year-old to win a Classic in the country. He is going to kick over into a four-years- old in a couple of months. His trainer, Danny O'Brien, didn't test his maturity until the end of his three year old season.

Russian Camelot won the Derby by one and three-quarter lengths. Victoria Derby winner Warning was second. O'Brien has had Russian Camelots since he was a yearling.

Jeremy Brummitt's horse Russian Camelot has won the Melbourne Derby. It's the first time a northern hemisphere horse has ever won a Derby in Australia. The horse is still young and the owners have resisted big offers for him. He has raced five times for three wins and won A$324,225 in prize-money. His sire Camelots was a champion racehorse. Lady Babooshka is a Cape Cross three-parts sister to Alkaadhem and a half-sister to Raising Sand.
