Joe Pride believes Think About It has potential to reach Group 1 level

Trainer Joseph Pride believes it’s not a matter of if but when Think About It reaches the top level as the talented galloper prepares to take another important step in his development at Rosehill on Saturday.

Think About It is one of the most promising talents in Pride’s Warwick Farm yard after winning three of his first four runs to start his career.

The son of So You Think will face his toughest test to date this weekend when lines up in the Chandon Benchmark 72 Handicap (1350m).

Bookies expect the gelding will be up to the challenge with TAB installing Think About It as an even-money favourite in the final event.

“He is a really nice horse loaded with potential,” Pride said.

“Hopefully we have a few more stepping stones to jump across yet but this is another one for him.

“He has met every challenge so far but he is a lovely horse.”

Think About It was an impressive first-up winner over 1200m at Warwick Farm back on January 11.

The four-year-old, which races in the same Proven Thoroughbreds silks of Pride‘s stable star Private Eye, could enhance his own autumn carnival claims with a strong showing in his Saturday metro debut.

“It will depend on how his next couple of starts if we tackle the autumn or look more to the winter carnival,” Pride said.

“We can all have plans and ideas but his next you are best of letting your horse tell you and his couple of runs will do that.

“He will either win like he should be part of the carnival or like he needs a bit more time and we will reschedule for the winter.

“It‘s up to him really.”

Sam Clipperton will pilot Think About It from barrier eight with Pride to also saddle up Mariamia in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes and Dehorned Unicorn in the Schweppes Handicap.
