Keeneland Announces Spring Stakes Schedule

Keeneland will award a season record $8.05 million for 19 stakes during its 2023 Spring Meet. The season will cover 15 days from April 7-28. Leading the schedule are the 99 running of the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass (G1) and 86 running the G1 Central Bank Ashland ( G2). The Madison and Jenny Wiley stakes for older females have been increased by $100,000 each to $600,00 and three listed stakes by $50, 000 each.

Keeneland's Spring Meet starts on April 7. The Toyota Blue Grass and Central Bank Ashland are important springtime races for sophomores. They are worth 200 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby and Road To the Kyroeland Oaks. Easter Sunday is Easter so the Spring meet resumes on Wednesday, April 12. On April 15, the Stonestreet Lexington is the final race on this year's Road. to Kentucky Oaks and the winner collects 20 points. The Beaumont is worth 20 on Road, with the winning horse collecting 10 points each.
