Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike will not run in Preakness

Rich Strike, the longshot winner of the Kentucky Derby, will not run in the Preakness Stakes next week. Owner Rick Dawson wants to give his horse more rest before the Belmont Stake. Epicenter, second in Kentucky, was the favorite for the second leg of Triple Crown. The last time a Kentucky derby winner did not race in Preaks was in 2019. The previous time was 1996 when Grindstone missed the race. He had a bone chip in his knee.
