Kings vs. Golden Knights predictions and odds

The 2023-24 NHL season is about one month old, and the first 20-something days of play have shed some light on the good, the bad and the ugly of all 32 teams.

Two of the top teams in the hockey league's Western Conference are the Los Angeles Kings (7-2-2) and the Vegas Golden Knights (11-1-1), the reigning Stanley Cup champions. The two teams face off on Wednesday night for the second of three matchups scheduled this season. Vegas won the previous clash, 4-3, in a shootout.

The Golden Knights are trying to bounce back from their first regulation loss of the season on Saturday – 4-2 to the Ducks in Anaheim – while the Kings are coming off of a 5-0 shutout of the Flyers.

As things currently stand, Vegas leads the entire NHL with 23 points. Los Angeles is fourth in the Western Conference and third in the Pacific Division with 16.

Bosun Akinpelu writes, "The Kings have done a good job of killing penalties, but they haven’t been as good defensively on the road. They gave up four goals on their own home ice when they faced the Golden Knights last month...The Golden Knights are great at killing penalties and they aren’t giving up a lot of goals at home, holding their last three opponents to four goals, so expect them to keep Los Angeles’ offense in check. Go with Vegas to cover the money line."
