Kings vs. Heat NBA expert prediction and odds for Wednesday, Jan. 31

The Heat are in trouble, and the surging Kings travel to Miami at the right time.

Miami has dropped seven straight as the Kings, winners of four straight roll in, but this game is being lined as a near-coin flip, should we be concerned? Or should we back De'Aaron Fox and the Kings' potent offense to take advantage of the slumping Heat?

Here's my best bet for Wednesday's action from South Beach.

Kings Injury Report

Heat Injury Report

Kings

De'Aaron Fox: Fox is enjoying a career year, shooting a career-best 38% from beyond the arc to contribute to a boosted scoring average of 27 points per game. He'll face a Miami defense that is league-average in January in hopes of handing the Heat another loss.

Heat

Bam Adebayo: The Heat are struggling, but Adebayo is still one of the best big men in the league, averaging a double-double this season and dishing out four assists. With a matchup against an elite offense like the Kings, Adebayo's incredible defense will be needed for Miami to snap its losing streak.

These are two teams trending in opposite directions, the Kings have won four straight, and the Heat have lost seven straight.

Miami's offense is stuck in the mud, 29th in January effective field goal percentage to go with its 5-10 record, and won't be able to take advantage of the Kings' pedestrian defense that grades out as 18th in points allowed per 100 possessions.

Meanwhile, Miami's defense has slid as well, league average this month (14th in points allowed per 100 possessions) and just 13th on the year. That's the big issue against Sacramento's high-octane offense which is seventh in effective field goal percentage.

I'm not standing in front of Sacramento at the moment, nor am I trying to catch the fall knife in Miami, who seem to be in for some more pain as the calendar flips to February.

Take the points with Sacramento.
