Knicks Go puts away foes in BC Classic, horse of year for Rosario and Cox

Knicks Go won the $6 million Breeders Cup Classic at Del Mar. Joel Rosario rode the horse to his third straight win of the year. The two-day handle of $182,165,297 was 4.7 percent above the previous record of $174,628,926 set in 2019 at Santa Anita. DelMar’s two day attendance of 47,089 was 33 percent lower than the 2017 total of 70,420. Godolphin Racing”s Yibir rallied from 11th to win the Turf. Yabir won with trainer Yoshito Yahagi. Loves Only You captured the Filly and Mare Turfi with first-time jockey Yuga Kawada.

Aloha West won the $2 million Sprint. Life is Good won Dirt Mile. Golden Pal won Turf Sprint and Juvenile TurF Sprint for trainer Wesley Ward and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. Ce Ce won Fillies and Mares Sprint, denying odds-on favorite Gamine a second straight win. Knicks Go, Cox and Rosario won Breeders’ Cup. Bob Baffert called Medina Spirit the best 3-year-old. The day belonged to Knicks, the 5-years- old son of Paynter.
