Knicks vs. Nets odds, props, predictions: Spread doesn't match gap between crosstown rivals

The Knicks are now 8-2 since the OG Anunoby trade and will cross the bridge tonight for a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. While trade speculation is ample in Brooklyn, they have yet to make a move and the team is now 2-10 in their last 12 outings. Despite the different directions of the teams, the spread for the matchup is still one of the closest of all tonight’s contests.

New York is answering all the questions about the impact of the Anunoby trade. His defense has helped right the ship after the loss of Mitchell Robinson, leading to big wins and putting the Knicks firmly back into the top five of the Eastern Conference after an earlier free fall.

From Mikal Bridges to Dorian Finney-Smith to Spencer Dinwiddie, many of the Nets’ players are being rumored in trade packages around the league as the trade deadline draws closer. The speculation isn’t helping their play on the court as some of their recent losses have come at the hands of even worse teams (i.e., Washington and Portland twice). However, the scoring distribution is still well-rounded for the Nets, leading to just a one-point season scoring differential between the Nets and Knicks.

Two of the last three contests between the two have hit the OVER, so fans are likely in for an entertaining matchup on TNT tonight. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below are the live odds for the game and additional betting information, including prop picks.

Knicks vs. Nets odds: Point spread, moneyline, and total

NBA betting odds for Tuesday’s Knicks vs. Nets contest.

Knicks betting news: Stars meshing quickly

Since joining the Knicks’ Anunoby is averaging 1.2 steals per game, shooting 40.8% from deep and 51% from the field. In three of his last four games, he has connected on at least two three-point attempts, filling the three-and-D role flawlessly for the Knicks.

His reliable shooting has opened the court even more for the team’s leader, Jalen Brunson. In January, Brunson is averaging 28.9 points per game, 8.4 assists, and four rebounds on a shooting split of 48.1%, 37.5%, and 88.3%. Additionally, Brunson has scored at least 30 points in four straight games now.

The Knicks’ third star has benefited from the arrival of Anunoby as well, registering four 30-point games in January so far, after having our all season long the months prior.

Nets betting news: Offensive woes across the board for starters

As the season progresses, the role of primary scorer has proven challenging for Bridges. His field goal percentage has dipped every month as the season progresses. In January, his points are up, but his shooting percentage is currently at a monthly low of 43.25% on 17.2 attempts per game. The inefficiency has stunted the offense, making it difficult to keep up with teams as of late.

He isn’t alone in his struggles. The Nets’ two other primary scorers are struggling as well. Currently, Dinwiddie is shooting 39.9% from the field on the season, and his scoring average in January is the lowest of the season for him so far.

Lastly, Cameron Johnson has struggled the most among them and is averaging season lows across the board in January. His totals as of now are 11 points per game on a shooting split of 37%, 33.3%, and 45.5%.

That level of production from the team’s best players won’t cut it against a Knicks’ defense that is rounding back into shape.

Knicks vs. Nets player props

The spread is tight, and the total is relatively low compared to the other matchups on the schedule. That sets up points to come at a premium in the interstate showdown tonight. Knicks vs. Nets prediction

Both teams are near the bottom in pace, which will help keep it close, but the Knicks are much better equipped to score points. That’s especially so in a tight contest. The Nets’ primary scorers have struggled as of late, and against a surging defense, which won’t do them any favors. Look for the Knicks to pull away late and cover the spread.
