Kraken vs Avalanche Odds & Predictions

The Avalanche try to bounce back on Thursday, hosting the Kraken in Game 2 of their opening round playoff series.

Colorado was the Central Division champion this season for the third consecutive campaign but lost to Seattle who scored timely goals and rode 34 saves from Philipp Grubauer.

Online sportsbooks expect Colorado to be even bigger favorites in Thursday’s NHL odds, but less in the series props market.

Kraken vs Avalanche Betting Splits

Now, Colorado is seeing Game 2 love in the NHL betting trends. The defending champs have bettors believing in them evening the series.

As of Wednesday night, 86% of the moneyline bets are backing the Avalanche, while the puck line splits are nearly as lopsided with 76% of those tickets are on Seattle, and the over is now at 69%. Expect a few shifts between now and the opening face-off.

Kraken vs Avalanche Injuries

The Avalanche found it difficult to create space in Game 1 and part of that was missing a player like Gabriel Landeskog. Players of his ilk create opportunities by making way in a tight-checking playoff world.

Cale Makar looked a bit tentative early in his return, but seemed to get a handle on things as the opener progressed. The same could be said for Josh Manson.

As for the Kraken, Andre Burakovsky remains out, but Daniel Sprong may be in the lineup for Game 2 on Thursday night.

Colorado carries good numbers for the Stanley Cup odds at +650, but another loss might lengthen those numbers a little.

Kraken vs Avalanche Analysis

There’s no shortage of good numbers from either side. However, our focus here will be on Game 1. Now, the Avalanche fired 35 shots on Philipp Grubauer. Unfortunately, Colorado generated only three high-danger scoring chances in the opening 20 minutes. Grubauer saw work, but was not severely tested.

For the fourth time this season, Seattle kept Colorado from scoring four or more goals. Keeping the score down even at the sacrifice of their own offense remains paramount. The Kraken have won three of four including the most important Game 1.

Seattle controlled the opening of the contests and had eight of the 11 high-danger chances in the first period. That set the tone for the game as the Kraken added two more goals to provide the margin of victory.

In net, Alexandar Georgiev exhibits a slight advantage over Grubauer but someone forgot to tell Grubauer that in Game 1. George allowed three goals on 30 shots and that second goal was one he would have liked to have had back.

So, Colorado needs to adjust and start like well, how Seattle did. Rantanen-MacKinnon-Rodrigues combined for 16 shots as a trio. Most of those came later in the game. The Avalanche swarm after a goal but that has not happened this season versus Seattle.

Kraken vs Avalanche 2022-23 H2H Results

Seattle keeps holding Colorado in check. Do the Avalanche finally finish their chances Thursday night?

Kraken vs Avalanche Prediction

The Avs going down 2-0 feels remote at best. However, Seattle plays a system that confounds Colorado early and often. Chances are there and then they are not. Can Grubauer frustrate his former team again on Thursday night?

The Avalanche expect to make some line adjustments from Game 1. Colorado cannot be happy with scoring only one goal at home. Nathan MacKinnon was seen fuming going off the ice on Tuesday. He had a team-high seven shots on goal and five scoring chances. A mere secondary assist will not cut it for him.

Kraken vs Avalanche Game 2 Same-Game Parlay

Georgiev looks to rebound after a poor Game 1 and so does the Colorado top-six. One figures Seattle to stay in this game, but for Colorado to finish some chances early. That should pave the way to a victory in Game 2.

Expect an even series heading back to Seattle for the upcoming weekend.
