Lakers at Mavericks Prediction

The Los Angeles Lakers invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been a team on the rise as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Warriors in a 124-111 win on Thursday. Malik Beasley led the team in scoring with 25 points on nine of 16 shooting, Austin Reaves added 17 points on six of six shooting off the bench while LeBron James tallied 13 points with nine rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 48 percent from the field and 16 of 30 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Warriors in a tightly contested first half, before they took control with 36 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 28 points at one stage. Anthony Davis finished with just 12 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks while shooting just three of five from the field but the Lakers had a real balanced offense with eight players finishing in double figures in scoring.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have won six of their last 10 games overall, but they were riding a three-game skid before they snapped out of it with a 142-116 win over the Spurs on Thursday. Luka Doncic led the team with 28 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists, Kyrie Irving added 23 points with six assists on eight of 13 shooting while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 22 points on seven of 12 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 56 percent from the field and 22 of 42 from the 3-point line as they found their offensive flow early and set the tone with 74 points in the first half, before they finished with a flurry of 43 points in the fourth quarter to make it a complete blowout.

Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days rest and 9-20 ATS in their last 29 games following a win of more than 10 points. The Mavericks are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Dallas, the Lakers are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas and the Lakers are 0-6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.

The Lakers are shorthanded again as D’Angelo Russell is listed as doubtful with an ankle sprain, while the Mavericks will again be missing Davis Bertans and Maxi Kleber. The Lakers have been a team on the rise lately and they will have to finish the regular season with a string of wins to sneak into the sixth playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Lakers are only 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas, but they have been the team in better form and I think they can take advantage of a Mavericks team who are still trying to learn to play with Irving in the lineup.
