Suns vs Mavericks Prediction

The Phoenix Suns pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Phoenix Suns have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Bulls in a 125-104 road win on Friday. Devin Booker led the team with 35 points and six assists, Josh Okogie added 25 points while Kevin Durant chipped in with 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists on seven of 10 shooting. As a team, the Suns shot 50 percent from the field and 20 of 47 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 11-point lead to trail going into halftime, before they dominated the second half by 65-40 to make it look easy in the end.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum in this one after taking down the 76ers in a 133-126 home win on Thursday. Luka Doncic led the team with 42 points and 12 assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Kyrie Irving added 40 points on 15 of 22 shooting while Reggie Bullock chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 54 percent from the field and a sizzling 25 of 48 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before they exploded for 39 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 25 points to put the game to bed early.

Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following a win of more than 10 points and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall. The Mavericks are 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days rest, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Suns are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Dallas and the Suns are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall.

The Suns could be shorthanded once again as DeAndre Ayton is listed as questionable for this one, while the Mavericks should have a full squad for once as Davis Bertans and Maxi Kleber are both expected to make their returns to the lineup. The Suns are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum and they looked good in their dominant win over the Bulls on Friday, while the Mavericks were really struggling with their new lineup until Thursday when they took down the 76ers. This rivalry has been boiling over for some time now and I think we’re in for a treat as both teams have bolstered their starting lineups, but even though the Mavericks have owned this matchup lately, I’ll side with the Suns to get the job done here.
