Leafs prepare for the season with one eye toward playoffs

The Maple Leafs are in training camp. The team has the same core and expectations. Last year the team was still angry after Montreal had beaten them over seven games in 2021. This year they are more confident. Pierre Engvall will be re-evaluated the week of October 3. Timothy Liljegren had surgery to repair a hernia and he will miss at least six weeks. Rasmus Sandin declined two offers from the Maple Leaf's and is out injured. He is on the last year of a five-year deal. He will play out the season without an extension.
