SIMMONS: Coach, GM, jobs on the line as Leafs training camp begins

There is a lot of uncertainty around the Maple Leafs as training camp begins. Sheldon Keefe is the favourite to be fired as the coach. Brendan Shanahan's future as president of the Leafs is tied to his chosen general manager. The team has a collection of pieces that don't necessarily fit together. Kefei has two goalkeepers that were cast adrift by teams looking to win. He has an injury to Timothy Liljegren and the unsigned status of Rasmus Sandin. John Tavares and William Nylander play well together, but not so well. The second line is not a good one. Auston Matthews will play with Mitch Marner and Michael Bunting.

Dubas and Keefe have a very close relationship. Dubas pushes Keefe to succeed. Keffe and Duba argue almost daily. They leave nothing unsaid and then do it again the next day.
