Lexington Stakes 2022 Entries & Post Positions

The Grade III Lexington Stakes is the last race for the Kentucky Derby Prep Trail. The prize money for this race is $400k. Last year's winner was Kenny McPeek’s King Fury.

Midnight Chrome is the son of California Chrome. He is trained by John Servis. Jose Ortiz is his jockey. Alexandria Stable has secured Jose.

In Due Time is a colt by Not This Time. Last time he was seen at Gulfstream Park he finished 2nd to Simplification. Paco Lopez rides him in Lexington Stakes.

We All See It is a colt by Street Sense. Eddie Kenneally has a long history of running at Keeneland. Luis Saez will ride him. He has ridden some good horses that were higher odds in the past.

D.W. Lukas has decided to run his son Ethereal Road, who just ran last week in the Blue Grass S. (G2). He was beaten 7th in that event. The colt was 2nd to Un Ojo in Rebel S ( G2) at Oaklawn. D. W. has shed his rider Luis Contreras and is going with Victor Espinoza.

Dale Romans' colt Howling Time is not a good enough horse to compete in the Lexington Stakes. Joe Talamo will ride him. The colter won his first two races as a 2-year-old, but the Jockey Club and FOY were disappointing.

Skate to Heaven is a young Laoban colt owned partly by one of Robertino Diodoro’s clients, Cypress Creek Equine. He broke his maiden at Oaklawn in a MSW90k last month. Roberto likes to use David Cohen in all sorts of situations.

#7 Major General didn't run in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2) and ended up 25-lengths behind Classic Causeway. He is worth $420k. He will be ridden by Irad Ortiz. The colt was trained by HOF Todd Pletcher.

Dallas Stewart's colt won the Lexington Stakes last year. Tyler Gaffalione will be the jockey again. The colo was sold for $825k.   He has had some problems with his form recently. He was up against Brad Cox's Cyberknife in the 19th Lexington in February.

#9 Tawny Port (Jky: F. Geroux/Trn: B. Cox) is a son of Pioneerof the Nile that once cost Peachtree Stable $430k. He finished 5th in the Risen Star (G2) at the Fair Grounds. Now he's going to Turfway Park. Florent Geroult is his trainer.

Dash Attack is a colt partly-owned by Magdalena Racing. He won the Smarty Jones $250k but fell flat in the Southwest S. (G3) and the Rebel S ( G2). He skipped the Arkansas Derby. Flavien Prat is an intriguing addition to the team.

James Graham rode a colt by Midnight Lute to victory in the Lecomte S. last month. Graham is the only jockey to beat Epicenter in a race this year. Epicent is a favorite for the Kentucky Derby. The team is coming to Keeneland to gain the "Points" and experience to get them to the actual Derby, which takes place on May 14th.
