Preakness Stakes 2022 Probables and Possibles

The 147th running of the Preakness Stakes is on the clock. The Derby Champion was crowned last Saturday. Pimlico Race Course hosts the 2nd jewel in the Triple Crown.

Epicenter, son of Not This Time, is coming to the Preakness. Joel Rosario rides him. Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby. He is the son to Keen Ice, the only runner to best American Pharoah as a 3-year-old. Sonny Leon rides the colt. He came to Pimlico with jockey SonnyLeon in tow. The conditioner, Eric Reed, thinks his colter can go even longer.

Simplification will be the first Thoroughbred to ship to Pimlico for the Preakness. He finished 4th in last week's race. The son of Not This Time made some waves during the Florida Series and has already earned in excess of $665k. Trainer Antonio Sano will pair him with HOF jockey John Velazquez.

Trainer Chad Brown is looking to do it again with Cloud Computing. The 3-year-old has a trio of works at Belmont under his saddle. He ran 2nd to Mo Donegal in the Wood Memorial S. (G2) and is a $200k purchase from the 2020 Keeneland September Sale.

Un Ojo won the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Unheralded rider Ramon Vazquez rode the colt. Trainer Ricky Courville's 3-year-old, Withers S., won in the Witherings s. (G3) at Aqueduct.

Rich Strike will be conditioned for the Preakness. Rattle N Roll has made 7 starts and earned $435k in earnings. Brian Hernandez might ride him. Smile Happy was ruled out. He made a good run in the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland in October.

Creative Minister won the Derby undercard race by 2 lengths. He has no "graded" experience in 3 lifetime starts. The colt is a product of Creative Cause. He is not a good prospect for the Preakness Stakes 2022.

Shake Em Loose is a local Maryland runner. He won his first race in December. His trainer is Rodolfo Sanchez-Salomon. The horse has not run at Pimlico since his debut last August.
