Limassol vs. Rangers Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips

New Rangers caretaker boss Steven Davis takes his side to Cyprus for their Europa League Group C with Limassol.

Although Rangers overcame Real Betis in Gameweek 1 of this competition, that could not save Michael Beale's skin, who was ultimately sacrificed by the club after several blunders already this term. The Gers have had three different managers since 2021, or four if including the temporary appointment of Steven Davis who will oversee this European challenge alongside his interim backroom staff.

For Aris Limassol, a trip to Sparta Prague was a real case of the if, buts and maybes. They did incredibly well to convert two of their three shots on target, narrowly losing out 3-2 that night.

With Rangers rolling into town on Thursday evening the Cypriots are 31/10 to get the win. The travelling Scottish outfit have been priced at odds-on to bag all three points, while those who fancy a draw can back the result at around the 14/5 mark.

Limassol vs Rangers Tips

James Tavernier Over 0.5 Shots On Target

It's hardly a Rangers betting preview without some form of James Tavernier-based bet. That's why we're taking on new bookmaker BetMGM with their offer of him to register a shot on target at a generous price of 27/25 which is odds-on at 4/6 elsewhere in the market.

Although things haven't quite gone his way in a Rangers side who aren't firing on all cylinders at the moment, Tavernier has still met this line in on six occasions this season; twice in the SPL and in four of his side's Champions League qualifiers.

Last season the attacking full-back averaged 1.10 shots on target per 90 minutes. Despite not hitting those heights this term so far, given how he is likely to be front and centre in much of Rangers' attacking play in Cyprus, we have to take a selection that would typically be odds-on.

Controversially, we're not anticipating a winning start to Steven Davis' temporary residence at Rangers. In fact, we're backing Limassol to go one better and cause an upset by overturning the Scots and claiming all three points on offer.

The Cypriots proved how clinical they can be two weeks ago, converting two goals from just three shots on target in a difficult away match against Sparta Prague.

They have endured a long road to European football this season, getting within touching distance of the Champions League group stages but ultimately falling short to Polish side Rakow Czestochowa in the third qualifying round.

While there, they thumped BATE Borisov 6-2 and 11-5 on aggregate, while they similarly beat out Slovan Bratislava in the play-offs to enter this season's Europa League.

There's a strong fair-weather feeling when it comes to some of the British participating in European competitions. This season alone we've seen Arsenal beaten by Lens, Manchester United suffer a home defeat to Galatasaray, Brighton lose their opening Europa League tie on home soil and Legia Warsaw edge out Aston Villa in the Conference League.

With all of the ongoing uncertainties at Rangers, this game feels primed for Limassol to cause an upset. Steven Davis and his makeshift coaching team have zero coaching experience, and Davis doesn't even have the benefit of playing in this team to fall back on, having undergone a long rehabilitation process for a torn cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in December 2022.
