Liverpool ace Luis Diaz could collect six medals this season if Reds win quadruple
Luis Diaz may be part of a Liverpool side competing for the quadruple this season, but the Colombian is on course to collect six winners medals due to his Porto involvement
Liverpool may just be six games away from completing a historic quadruple, but January signing Luis Diaz could scoop up six winners' medals if everything goes to plan.
Diaz has been exceptional for Liverpool since signing in January from FC Porto, but he was influential for his former side too, and they are on course to complete the double in Portugal. And due to the fact that that he played 25 times for Porto this season, he will be eligible for any winners medals they achieve.
Porto are six points ahead in their domestic league, and they can wrap up a sweet victory if they avoid defeat to major rivals Benfica on Saturday. And they're overwhelming favourites to beat Tondela in the Portuguese cup final too, meaning Diaz could win six medals this season.
Diaz joined Porto in 2019, but really began to turn heads at the start of this season, and he even faced off against Liverpool in the Champions League group stages both home and away. He did enough to convince Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool planned to sign him next summer, but a January approach from Tottenham fast-tracked their plans.
But it's a good job that they did as he has majorly boosted their quadruple hopes, and after starring in their Carabao Cup final win against Chelsea, he has helped them reach the final of the FA Cup and the Champions League too. And his influence has ensured that Liverpool are still within touching distance of Manchester City in the Premier League too.
Diaz has been labelled by many as the greatest January signing of all-time, but it seems to be something about the South American's at Liverpool, as Luis Suarez was also signed by the club in January back in 2011. But Diaz has already won as many trophies as Suarez did during his time at Liverpool, and he could help this current side go down as the best in English history.
No one has ever completed the quadruple in England, and no one has ever been as close as Liverpool are now. There are just six more games to play, but every game will feel like a cup final, and two of them actually will be. But it was Diaz' recent performance against Villarreal that really summarised his impact since arriving at Anfield.
Despite heading into their Champions League semi-final second-leg with a healthy two-goal advantage, they saw that wiped out by Villarreal by half-time. And a strong, seemingly unbreakable Liverpool side has crumbled in Spain.
That was until Diaz came on, and he completely changed the game for Liverpool. And not only did they progress to the final, they managed to overturn a two-goal deficit on the night and win the match 3-2.
It looked as though they'd be playing City in the final, but an almighty collapse from Pep Guardiola's side means that their European dreams have been crushed again. As Real Madrid managed to score two goals in injury time before scoring a Karim Benzema penalty sent them through against all the odds.
And it's the final clash that Mohamed Salah was dreaming of, as the Egyptian confirmed that he wants to get revenge for their heart-breaking loss back in 2018. Madrid will not be an easy test by any means, but Liverpool are heavy favourites to win their seventh European crown.
And by that stage, we will know if the quadruple is still on as both the Premier League and the FA Cup will be wrapped up by then. Diaz already has one medal with Liverpool this season, and with two expected to follow from Porto, it could be a huge year for the Colombian.
