LiveWire Del Mar electric motorcycle first ride: Test riding lightning

LiveWire has reopened reservations for its second electric motorcycle model, the S2 Del Mar. The first round of reservations opened back in May for the Launch Edition, but they sold out in 18 minutes. LiveWire had hoped to launch the production version of the Livewire S1 DelMar at closer to $15,000, and the price has now risen to around $16,999. The only downside is that the Del mar is still a bit pricey.

The LiveWire Del Mar is a small, lightweight electric bike with a mixed range. It's small and light enough to be a nimble city ride, but large and powerful enough for highway riding. The battery capacity is unknown. It is said to fall in the 9.5 to 10. 5 kWh range, which is within the 110-mile range offered by the company. In the city riding it was possible to use 55% of the battery and it had a range of 73 miles (117 km). The one thing that felt a bit lacking was any sort of sound. However, with the Livewire Ones on either side of him during much of his ride he could hear their motors more than he heard his own.
