Louie Varland is first Concordia grad in MLB

Louie Varland is the first Concordia grad to make it to the Major League. He will play against the Bronx Bombers at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Cole Hutchens used to work at Richard's Market in North St. Paul. Hutchen and Louie Varlands played baseball together at North High School. The coach is now running his own baseball academy in the area. Louie's brother is a pitcher for the Dodgers' Triple-A team. His dad works at the family drywall business. The mom used the radio station. It's a tough game for Louie. Neil Lerner, the head coach at Concordi, believes Louie can handle the pressure.
