Love Island fans give their thoughts on Maya Jama as they share hilarious memes

The brand new series of Love Island kicked off on Monday evening and as is tradition viewers spent the entire episode live blogging the launch on social media. 

'Love Island Twitter' has become a cultural phenomenon in recent years, with fan accounts, comedians and the viewing public rushing to share their memes, hot takes and musings. 

Fans often find themselves at odds with their views, but the viewing public were united in loving new host Maya Jama and Islander Olivia Hawkins. 

Maya, 28, certainly made an impression on fans as she strutted her stuff in the figure hugging number as she walked into the South African villa in a sexy slow-mo clip. 

Fans went wild on Twitter as they saw Maya walk into the villa.

One wrote: 'There was no need for Maya Jama to look that good', while another claimed 'Maya Jama is the signing of the season'.

A third tweeted: 'Is Maya Jama allowed to win?', while a fourth added: 'I literally just done this when Maya Jamam walked in, she is ridiculous.'

A fifth penned: 'Just give Maya Jama the 50k now,' and another admitted: 'The only reason I'm tuning into this season of Love Island is for Maya Jama. What a mesmerising lady.'

A host of other fans shared an array of amusing memes as they joked about seeing 'my boyfriend' staring at Maya as she walked into the villa. 

Another user commented: 'All I remember from this episode is Maya Jama in that black dress, sorry'.

Someone else posted a photo of the presenter in the dress and added: 'Just give Maya Jama the 50k now'.

Another fan questioned 'How the hell is anyone supposed to find love when Maya Jama keeps walking in and out looking like this?'

Maya made her incredible debut earlier that episode in a stunning green plunging maxi dress. 

The TV and radio presenter, making her villa bow after replacing Laura Whitmore, won unanimous praise from viewers as she arrived in a sweeping gown with a plunging detail that enhanced her cleavage. 

Maya lined the boys up ahead of the girls big entrances into the villa where they stepped forward for who they liked the look off before the beauties made their decision. 

However, viewers were quick to take to Twitter to joke 'step forward if you fancy Maya Jama' as she stole the show. 

Others added: 'Maya Jama outshining the female contestants, fancy going in and having to stand next to her'. 

'Maya Jama slaying as always,' a third wrote. 

Viewers were also taken with the brash brunette Olivia Hawkins, with many insisting she's giving 'main character energy' after she was left seething over being ditched by hunk Kai Fagan.

Her brazen attitude quickly caught the attention of fans, with many taking to Twitter to note she was clearly on a mission to steal the spotlight in the villa. 

One wrote: 'Olivia is giving me main character energy,' while another added: 'Olivia must think she is the main character.'

A third also tweeted: 'Olivia is offering up some real main character energy man, I'm here for it.'

One viewer was quick to share their thoughts, writing: 'Olivia is lush and main character energy but Tanyel takes the biscuit for me.'

After being paired up with Will, Olivia also clocked fans' attention by sharing a toe-curling hug with him.

The awkward moment was immediately clocked by fans on Twitter, with one penning: 'Olivia does not fancy that guy, she just can't stand Will already and is trying to pivot lol!'

Another added: 'This is cringe,' while a third wrote: 'In what world would Olivia and Will EVER suit???'

Olivia spoke around the firepit to her a few of her fellow islanders where she admitted that the farmer 'is not my type'.

Viewers then dubbed Will as this year's Hugo Hammond.

One user wrote: 'I feel SICK watching the Hugo 2.0 show', while another said, 'the more I watch the more Will is giving Hugo Hammond vibes'.

Will was also compared to other contestants as a viewer suggested: 'Will walking in the footsteps of Dr. Alex and Hugo'. 

Another agreed: 'Will, Andrew and Hugo are the same people just in different bodies'. 

Viewers also picked up on Will's compliments, saying: 'Will dished out his 5th compliment in 4 minutes and still hasn't been picked. Not another Hugo'.

Fans were also shocked to find out that islander Haris Namani won't date a woman who has feet bigger than a size five.

The TV salesman, 21, told Maya Jama his bizarre turn off is: 'Big feet. Anything over a size five.'

Maya couldn't resist pointing out this would rule her out: 'Well I'm out of limits, I'm a size six and a half, it's not gonna happen. You can't be that strict down to the foot size! Well I think I've found out enough' 

Taking to Twitter, viewers could not hide their shock, with one saying: 'Really sad that Haris won't want me cos my feet are a size 6'

One person wrote: 'Cant be above a size 5 in shoes?? are you mad  #LoveIsland.'

Another added: 'Maya calling out Haris on feet size... We love to see it'

A third penned: 'So are we all in agreement that Haris' tiny foot thing is because he's got tiny feet and insecure about it?'

The TV salesman, 21, who claimed he is a Cristiano Ronaldo lookalike, also left fans of the dating show gobsmacked over his perfectly arched brows. 

Taking to Twitter, viewers could not hide their shock, with one fan of the show tweeting: 'Haris probably has better eyebrows than 80% of women mine included #LoveIsland.' 

Someone else tweeted: 'Whoever let Haris come on this show with dem eyebrows needs jail time #LoveIsland,' while a third added: 'haris’ eyebrows are the perfect shape, i would kill for brows with that much arch #LoveIsland.' 

Another viewer demanded: 'Haris needs to cough up the details of his eyebrow lady. Wow. Fleeky. #LoveIsland,' as someone else tweeted: 'Haris defo threads his eyebrows #LoveIsland.' 

'Never in my life did I think I’d see a man’s eyebrows so preened. And from yorkshire #LoveIsland,' admitted one shocked Love Island, while another wrote: 'Harris' eyebrows are plucked within an inch of his life #LoveIsland.' 

Someone else tweeted: '1999 called Harris,They want their eyebrows back #LoveIsland,' as another asserted: 'It’s unlikely anybody will pick Haris, they will feel threatened by his eyebrows. #LoveIsland.' 

Kai Fagan, 24, was mocked by viewers for using the term 'wifey for lifey' before switching between three single ladies during the first coupling of the series. 

The semi-pro rugby player claimed to Maya that he has entered the South African villa on the hunt for the real deal, but fans of the show were quick to call him out for using the 'cringeworthy' slogan. 

Taking to Twitter, viewers did not hold back, with one writing: '“Wifey for lifey” the way I GAGGED #LoveIsland,' while another admitted: '“Wifey for lifey” I just threw up my dinner thanks babe x #LoveIsland.'

'Looking for wifey on Love Island? Stop lyingggggg through your pearly veneers mate,' pleaded someone else, as another person insisted: 'sorry but the lads are soooo dry on love island, a grown man saying “wifey for lifey”.'

'This “wifey 4 lifey” thing better not the slogan for this series. I will not tolerate 8 weeks of grown men talking like teenage boys. #LoveIsland,' fumed one viewer. 

Someone else tweeted: '"I just wanna try all the flavours and see which one is a wifey for lifey" go home right now #LoveIsland.' 

'Going to love island for a wifey, be for real #LoveIsland,' begged one fan of the show, while another wrote: 'talking about wifey when all u want is the brand deals #LoveIsland.' 

Someone else tweeted: 'The lingo these boys are using ‘birds’ ‘wifey for lifey’ like boys pleaseeee the cringe factor is too highhh #LoveIsland,' with someone else commenting: 'ew he did not just say wifey for lifey #loveisland.' 

Viewers were quick to accuse a number of islanders of lying about their real age. 

Taking to Twitter, fans demanded the show to 'check birth certificates' as they were left less than convinced that Kai Fagan is 24-years-old. 

As viewers watched from home, the new cast came under scrutiny with one writing: 'Nahhh Kai is not 24. Check that birth certificate now'. 

While another added: 'Kai is 24???? Was he born in a leap year?'

'I cannot believe Kai is 24, he looks at least 30, if not 35,' a third penned. 

Kai wasn't the only singleton to come under fire as bombshell Tom Clare, 23, was also questioned by fans online. 

The boys were left less than impressed at the end of the first episode as the striker for Macclesfield made his debut. 

Tom will get to pick any girl of choice in the next episode leaving the boy left single at risk. 

Elsewhere fans said thatnewcomer Tanyel Revan, 26, is Turkish actress Ekin-Su Culculoglu's long lost sister, as they pointed out their striking resemblance.

Taking to during the hairstylist's first few minutes on the ITV2 show, fans noted that she could be the former winner's twin, adding that producers did a 'copy and paste' job.

Viewers insisted that the north Londoner is a double for last summer's Love Island winner Ekin-Su, with her caramel highlighted locks and olive complexion. 

One person tweeted:' Tanyel is Ekin-Su’s long lost sister IM TELLING YOU!! #LoveIsland,' with another asking: 'Is Tanyel ekin-su’s long lost sister?? #LoveIsland.' 

'Love island really said let’s Copy and Paste Ekin-Su for Tanyel #loveisland,' added a third person while someone else insisted: 'Tanyel was copied and pasted from Ekin-su #LoveIsland.' 

One fan of the show noted: 'Tanyel is literally an Ekin-Su clone bro #LoveIsland,' as another tweeted: 'Tanyel is literally Ekin-Su’s twin #LoveIsland.' 

Quick-witted viewers also  flocked to to share a string of hilarious memes.

From farmer Will's awkward flirting to Olivia's glaring side eye, it appeared that every detail of the night's proceedings inspired a comedic response.

When it was Olivia's turn to choose a boy to couple up with, she chose Kai, despite him not stepping forward for her.

She came to regret the decision when, Kai stepped forward for Tanyel, causing Olivia to give him the daggers and frostily remark: 'It is what it is'.

Viewers jumped on the hilarious moment, with one declaring her side eye to be the 'first meme of the season'.

Another wrote: 'LOOOOOOL the daggers are killing me'.

While a third said: 'Nah Olivia made herself into a meme already. That side eye was brazy'. 

Will also fared badly, with viewers quickly picking up on some similarities with old contestants - in particular, Hugo Hammond.

The 23-year-old's debut did not go as planned after he did not get picked by any of the girls during the first coupling of the series. 

The farmer repeatedly stepped forward for the single ladies, but he remained unselected to couple up with and viewers have since claimed the islander is the new 'Hugo 2.0'.

Will was also compared to other contestants as a viewer suggested: 'Will walking in the footsteps of Dr. Alex and Hugo'.

Fans also mocked him for his profession, joking that he was better suited to his sheep.

After Olivia told him she had no tattoo and was a 'clean sheet', he interrupted to say: 'A clean sheep?'

One fan declared: 'SEND THIS MAN BACK TO HIS FARMS'.

While another echoed: 'You can tell will doesn’t get a lot of human interaction on that farm. Old Macdonald had no b*****s'.

And a third joked that the glitches in the first episode were Will's flock's fault, saying: 'The devil works hard but Will’s Sheep are working harder, chewing the tv cables. they don’t wanna see they daddy suffer anymore'.

Haris didn't do much better, with people coming after his eyebrows and his mum's claim that he looks like Cristiano Ronaldo.

They also took umbrage with the boxer's repeated assertion that he had never had a girlfriend.

Eagle-eyed fans took to Twitter to call out Haris after discovering loved-up videos his ex-girlfriend Courtney Hodgson had posted on TikTok.

One wrote: 'nahhh not Haris saying he’s never had a relationship + never brought a girl back to his #LoveIsland' (sic). 

A second tweeted : 'Can Haris please stop openly disrespecting his ex by saying he's never had a relationship, there's videos of them on holidays all over TikTok. What a slime.' 

Another said: 'Love Island finishes, open TikTok, first video - Haris and his ex Mr I’ve never had a relationship this algorithm.'

A third fan chimed: 'Not Haris being exposed for lying about having a relationship already, Twitter working harder than the FBI as always'. 

'Haris sitting there saying he hasn’t ever been in a relationship, when his ‘ex’ has exposed his dumb a*s already!', another wrote. 

And a fifth said: 'Single for 3 months??? My guy was in a relationship when he applied'. 

Host Maya Jama also was at the centre of many memes, after fans declared she was 'outshining the other contestants'.

One said: 'love island producers escorting me off the premises after i refuse to couple up with anyone other than maya jama'. 

And another pointed out: 'The Love Island host shouldn’t be the sexiest in the villa'.

A third agreed, writing: 'The boys this whole season. One eye on the girls, the other firmly on Maya Jama.'

While someone else echoed: 'No I am sorry they cannot be sending Maya in looking like THAT. Diabolical. Can you imagine spending all night trying to look fit and she comes in'.
