Man Utd fans slam 'Murtough madness' amid Anwar El Ghazi transfer talk & say they've already got Antony-Sancho stand-in

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are fuming amid reports of a move for ex-Aston Villa and Everton winger Anwar El Ghazi.

The Red Devils are without Antony after he mutually agreed to stay away as he faces allegations of domestic abuse - which he denies.

Erik ten Hag has also endured a public spat with forward Jadon Sancho - who hit back at claims from his manager about his training performances by insisting he was being made a "scapegoat".

As a result, The Mail understand Man Utd are searching for potential reinforcements as they look for stand-in solutions to the Antony-Sancho hole left in their squad.

And one man reportedly being looked at is Dutch attacker El Ghazi, 28 - although SunSport understands it is highly unlikely.

The former Premier League man left PSV by mutual consent last week.

But the Old Trafford faithful have been left bitterly disappointed by reports of a move for El Ghazi.

They took aim at football director John Murtough and called on Ten Hag to utilise readymade alternative Facundo Pellistri.

Reacting on social media, one person said: "Another Murtough madness! Some director of football. Taking us in the direction of wall to wall Eredivisie garbage!"

Another added: "This is a sackable offence."

A third replied: "What’s the point of the club spending fees of £50m combined for young exciting talents like Pellistri and Amad [Diallo] just to end up signing finished bums like El Ghazi as a free agent to play instead?"

And a fourth responded: "I'd much rather give Pellistri a run of games than sign El Ghazi, a player that can't even get regular starts at PSV. Embarrassing that we're even linked with him tbh."

El Ghazi registered 26 goals and 16 assists in 119 appearances for Aston Villa.

He was last seen on loan at Everton last year where he played just two games.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have kicked off their campaign with two wins and two defeats.

Victories over Wolves and Nottingham Forest have come amid losses to Tottenham and Arsenal.

Next up for Ten Hag's men is a home game against Brighton on Saturday.
