Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner shrugs off brief benching, any criticism that comes on social media

Mitch Marner was benched for one shift in the third period of the Maple Leafs' game against the Ducks. Mariner was criticized for his performance. The team has lost four games in a row. Marneck doesn't use social media. He doesn’t have a problem with it. Sheldon Keefe has no problem. Kefei was trying to send a message to the entire team. Denis Malgin was given an extra shift. It was not the first time for Mitch. Mitch left the bench to smash his stick. His coach has nothing to do with that.

Pontus Holmberg was called up from the Toronto Marlies on Tuesday. He practised between Pierre Engvall and Calle Jarnkrok on the third line. Holmborg will make his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. He was a sixth-round pick by the Leafs in 2018. The 23-year-old recorded two assists in seven games with the Maries.

Matt Murray is on the ice before practice. Ilya Samsonov is expected to start against the Flyers. Samsonova's play has improved his odds in the Vezina Trophy race. He is 7-1-0 in his career against Flyers and 33/1 to win the trophy.
