Mauricio Pochettino handed Mykhailo Mudryk injury scare amid 'brand new Chelsea signing' message

Mauricio Pochettino has been handed yet another Chelsea injury scare over the international break ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal. The London derby is set to be contested at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 21 with both teams heading into the game with several major injury concerns.

For Mikel Arteta both Thomas Partey and Bukayo Saka are doubts for the fixture, while Mykhailo Mudryk has joined Cole Palmer as an injury concern. The Ukraine international was withdrawn in his nation's European Championships qualifier against North Macedonia five minutes after receiving treatment from the physios with it currently unclear if he has suffered a muscular problem.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have been sent a huge message about a brand new signing for Pochettino while Ivan Toney has posted another cryptic message ahead of the January transfer window.

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines on Monday, October 16.

Mudryk injury scare

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk could be a doubt to face Arsenal next weekend in the Premier League after appearing to be subbed off for Ukraine with an injury.

While that piece of skill was superb, it was unfortunately not the main talking point regarding Mudryk coming out of the game. That is because in the 80th minute, Mudryk went down with a slight issue before receiving some treatment from the Ukraine physios before he was taken off a few minutes later.

Chelsea sent 'brand new signing' message

Mauricio Pochettino has been told that Chelsea will have a brand new signing by the time the January transfer window rolls around after injuries ravaged their 2023.

Despite the positive clips, it is unlikely Chelsea supporters will see Nkunku back in action until the New Year. Thankfully, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Palmer and Jackson are beginning to find the back of the net more regularly, and, as per journalist Ben Jacobs, adding Nkunku into that mix will almost certainly feel like a new signing has arrived given he is yet to play a competitive game for the Blues.

Toney cryptic message

The England international is currently serving an eight-month footballing ban that started in May 2022 for betting offences, although he has since returned to team training and made his playing comeback.

Earlier this week Toney posted to his Instagram story showing himself in the gym before panning up to the Dubai skyline. The former Newcastle man has been active on social media throughout his ban and in recent hours he has posted a cryptic message, perhaps indicating his time at Brentford could be over soon.
